Hello,

I would like to upgrade my iMac with a powerfull SSD: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/S3DAPT4MA10K

Tutorial: https://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/imac-27-inch-5k-2019-pciessd/

My question is that if I have to replace the HDD too or not ?
It is important for me to use macOS + all my Adobe Apps on SSD in order to have best experience.
Also the best practice is to have the files on the same drive.

Fusion drive means that iMac will use my new ssd and old hdd to make a fusion drive ?
In this case I have to replace also the HDD with a fast SSD and after that I will have the best experience ?

Thanks a lot

LE: Or I can keep just the new 1TB SSD and remove the SATA HDD ?

You can simply remove the HDD and just run off a flash SSD - just make sure you remove the SATA cable whilst you upgrade the SSD - else it will cause fan ramp without the HDD there.

I am not sure I understand you. Can you be a little specific please ? Thanks
You mean that I can remove the HDD entirely then to change the SSD with the new one and let the iMac just with the new SSD on NVMe PCIe ?

So, I have the 1TB Fusion Drive and I want:

1. To buy this: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/S3DAPT4MA10K/ and replace the actual SSD.
2. To remove the HDD because I don't need it.

My question is: Can I just remove the HDD and stay just with the SSD blade or I need to fill the HDD space too with a SSD too ? Like this: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/SSD7P6G480/

Thanks

I don't know exactly how to explain what I want to do.
I have seen various tutorials on the internet where some change the SSD Blade, and where some change only the HDD with a SSD.

I wonder if I get good results just changing the hdd or will I get even better results if I put a 1TB SSD blade without hdd?

I just buy this two pieces to upgrade my Fusion Drive. I hope I don't regret my decision
