I'd say battery life is almost slightly above half;
And this means what to whom? Where are your facts? "I'd say..." means nothing without those.

Despite your jaundiced opinion, tests showed that iOS 10 increased battery life over 9.3.5. Here is one of many.
https://www.redmondpie.com/ios-10-vs-ios-9-battery-life-on-iphone-6s-6-5s-5-comparison/

When iOS 10 came out, my battery was brand new (my 5S had been stolen a couple of weeks before and phone company insurance had just bought me a new one). So, I went from 9.3.5 to 10 on a fresh battery and did not have your experience. I did not run tests but I would have noticed if my battery life had dropped at all.

As far as I can tell, I'm holding onto my SE until it's out of service. If I had to upgrade today, I'd go with a refurbished iPhone 7.

Larger phones than that are amazingly capable, but the sizes are so weird for anyone who thinks of portable devices as portable devices.

The SE already has the 6S internals, not really and upgrade...

You’re partially correct, it does share the same Ram and A9 Processor, but the 6s includes 3D Touch, and for some, that feature alone is worth the upgrade.

Just traded my 5S in and got a new 8. I was really worried about the size increase, but I have to say that I really like the better bigger screen. I probably would have even went with an 8 plus, but that one was really a bit too broad across the waist for my hand to hold it comfortably. I have medium size hands. My eyes appreciate the better screen of the 8 over the 5S MORE than my wish held out for a small phone.

Forgot to mention: LIke ChrisChaval, I needed a battery replacement. However, Apple doesn't have the cheap replacement policy for the 5S. So........ I got the 8.

When's that coming out?

First 5G phones are expected to hit the market around the second half of the next year (even though the infrastructure is not there yet)

I expect Apple to adopt 5G somewhere in 2020, once the 5G network is more widely available and chips have matured (first generation 5G routers appear to be quite power hungry)

until then, my SE will have to last

I've been holding out for a new 4" phone for many many years, every year I tell myself "this is the event where it'll be released".

As we all know it hasn't happened And last year I realized it simply will not happen.

It takes a Steve Jobs type person to push making a truly good device or product in the face and opposition to what the numbers and market research tells you to do.

Since I came to the realization that 4" will never happen I've been much happier. I can stop worrying about getting a new phone just to have a new phone, as the SE does literally everything I could ever need. It's as fast as the day I bought it, feels like a truly high quality device and has lots of storage.

I'm so happy with the device I actually have been thinking if they did come out with a new 4" phone would I even switch? I really hate the new oled screens and for some reason the new phones screen look plasticy / cheap to me. So it might be a downgrade for me personally. Of course I love the rounded body, edge to edge screen real estate and the notch design of the X, but otherwise the se really is the ultimate device for me and it shows no signs of aging or slowing down (never upgraded iOS and never will)
