Assuming your i3 came with the 5670 GPU I don't really see the value of making this upgrade. It would be better to restore the i3 to stock...sell it and get an i7 w/ the 5750 1GB GPU. If you have that GPU then go for it I guess.....I'll watch!!!
 
Those are bloomfields, they use an entirely different socket than lynnfield. If there would be any possible upgrade it'd have to be lynnfield.

I would think you would have better luck reselling it in stock condition w/ the Warranty intact.

Hey, maybe you can research upgrading the GPU instead.....?
 
I have the imac 27 mid 2010 with the I5-760 and the ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 MB and upgraded already with 16gb and a ssd.

I was thinking that the next upgrade will be an i7-870 and 32gb ram and is maxed out. right?

and for vga the maxed out is the hd 6970 5gb from 2011 imac?

I used to run that same imac with 32gb of ram, beyond that im not sure about the max gpu and cpu
