Yeah, I’m most likely be doing the Apple iUP and trade in my X. And obviously get out of my NEXT plan (only handful of payments left).

I may be doing the same thing. My 64 gig X is running out of storage space. I didn't know the Next 12 month upgrade was gone. I don't see the point of paying $5 a month to AT&T to upgrade early. I wanted to keep my options open in case there is a major overhaul next year.

I owe $124 on the current one. I'd rather pay it off and get into the IUP going forward. Plus I can sell my current model or hand it down to a family member.

I’m confused, when I ordered the Next Up with my phone and payed the 5 bucks to upgrade early, I’m only upgrading after 15 months?? It’s not a yearly upgrade then.

I cancelled my AT&T Next Up order (30 Month Installment +$5/mo fee) due to the cloudiness of trading in at 12 months next year. Apple is still offering the AT&T Next Every Year Plan for 24 installments. I just place a new order with Apple.com for Pick Up in store on Sept 20 with AT&T Next Every Year.

This is what is posted in the FAQs on AT&T.com on the new Next Up Plan webpage.

The AT&T Next® and AT&T Next Every Year® Plans are being discontinued and are available only from select non-AT&T dealers for only a limited time.

You can trade in and upgrade your smartphone pursuant to the existing AT&T Next® and AT&T Next Every Year® trade-in terms. When you trade in your smartphone, you will have a choice between the AT&T Installment Plan and the AT&T Installment Plan with Next Up unless the AT&T Next® or AT&T Next Every Plan® is offered by a non-AT&T dealer.

I ordered the phone with no issues from Apple.com for in store pick up, and the process was almost too easy. It just asked to confirm I was trading in and that was that. Thanks for your responses!

ETA: I can confirm I just got the 24 month program, trade in after 12 months with AT&T, the exact same as last year. I am however thinking of switching to the IUP program next year.

Damn wish I knew that. Im going on Apple Store website if I swap over the preorders I won't get the phone until October. Ugh. Oh well, I learned my lesson this year, don't trust AT&T.

There were two AT&T Next installment options for me this morning for the iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB:

Upgrade Yearly after 50% paid/24 month ($52.05)

Upgrade Yearly after 80% paid/30 month ($41.64)

Damn I don't know if I should cancel my A&TT order to get out of the 30 month installment and buy from Apple/Best Buy. But I feel like next year they will change the plans completely anyway.

That really sux because for my phone next year, if I stick with AT$T i'll have to pay it off and try to sell it. At least hubby's will be paid off and we can put him on an apple plan if AT$T does something stupid like it sounds....

This. If Apple only offered the 30 month plan as well then I would have just moved to IUP but luckily was able to keep my next every year plan by ordering through Apple.

I’m sure they’ll reconsider the 30 month plans. I had a lengthy convo with a rep from AT&T Social media group and they are getting a lot of complaints.

I just happened upon this thread. Without even knowing that AT&T changed their NEXT every year program. I've been with AT&T for 15 years and have used the next program for many years. So stupid that they now change it and charge $5 just for the "privilege" of upgrading. I decided to switch to the IUP this year and GLAD I did. Now I won't be tied to AT&T. The ordering process was a breeze being pre-approved and having the phone I want sitting in my cart ready to check out this morning.
