This year, I am seeing my phone move through UPS much faster than usual. I never see mine arrive to AK by Tuesday, each year mine hits there Wednesday/Thursday for that Friday delivery but sure enough, Mine arrived last night and left AK this morning.

BUT last night UPS sends me a email and a text stating my phone is scheduled now to deliver 9/19 (Today) which OBVIOUSLY those of us who do this annually, know darn well that is not happening. For that brief second though, I did get excited but then snapped back to reality!! LOL

Most years we are all watching, stressing, as we see days without movement, but this year, mine is "flying" through the UPS network!! :)

This whole process seems to be moving much faster than in previous years!

My phone should be in KY by today!

I got the notice too.

The first shipment of iPhones is landing in Louisville, KY around 11am EDT today, so it would be a tough challenge to get them off the pallets and out to regional distribution centers for delivery by the end of day (even if UPS wanted to break the delivery day agreement).

Yeah when I got the notice last night it had just left Korea to AK, so I knew that was not a possibility, but for that brief second, OH THE EXCITEMENT HIT lol.

The shipping movement is surely faster this year. It can be a good thing so there is no rush on getting the products ready for delivery on Friday. Hopefully!!

My wife’s iPhone that got the notice is coming UPS. Mine is in store pickup since shipping times were delayed for my model (Nat Ti). We’ve got an unofficial race to see whose iphone is up and running first…

It is UPS way of saying that your deliveries are actually going to be late by issuing a false early notice that they can easily discredit as an error but then say 'Sorry for the early release notice that was in error, your actual delivery date is x' x being a week or 2 weeks delay :)

Be careful of phishing attacks disguised as tracking
The obvious ones will be 'oopppss sorry we missed you, please click on this link to divert/resend your package' or 'we were unable to deliver your package, please click this link to arrange a pick up time' or 'there is a problem with your package, please click this link to arrange a time to pick it up and yes the main one 'Your package is on it's way, please click this link to track it/divert it'.

Mine has also left Alaska, but obviously not going to be delivered until Friday.

Does anyone else see an option to HOLD the package at a UPS store or CC center? Every year, I have my package held so I can pick it up since I'm rarely home to sign for it. This year, the only options I see are to reschedule to a different day or have it delivered to a neighbor. Did they eliminate the option to hold a package, or has Apple not allowed this these days?

Usually on UPS packages I can request a hold at UPS CC or change the delivery address by paying a small fee.

But Apple shipments are restricted and won't change delivery addresses due to fraud & thefts.

Hold at customer counter should be allowed after they pass customs.

Signature is another requirement for those in high risk areas.

Miss those pandemic years when the driver would not let you sign for it.

Yeah, it used to be free to hold at a UPS CC, but now it's $5.99. Last year, I was able to pay the $5.99 to hold my iPhone at the CC, but this year, the option isn't even there. I can "pre-sign" for the package so that they will leave it without an in-person signature, but then you release all liability if it's stolen, so I'm not going to do that.

Maybe UPS got hit with a lot of stolen / lost claims and had to recoup the costs ?

And the complaints I saw about UPS CC hold - limited hours, weekend demand to pick up, and people trying to pick them up before they were ready at the high value cage....

A silly question, when you say UPS CC, is that 'collection counter/collection center'? because if so I am more use to seeing CP 'collection point'.

They havent had me sign for a few years now. (Even before COVID)

I remember getting iPhone X and the following year XS max a day early. I even posted it on here. Oh the good old days of having many connections in the electronics world.

Somehow there’s gotta be a connection between people needing the new iPhone each year and within a week from release date… and the world burning and running out of resources. 🙄

Relax people. Relax. You have food and a roof. And can sleep without being bombed.
