What is your favorite way to move from an old iPhone to a new one? I am not 100% sure of all the options. I usually just do the simple path but that leave me downloading all the apps and much of the iCloud data for the next day or more. My network connection is about 2Mbps.

I’m wondering if it would be quicker to do a last minute backup to my Mac (encrypted) and restore from it. Comments?

I actually got a notification on my phone and a redirect to the settings app with instructions for preparing for my new phone. It essentially said to use iCloud and put the two phones near each other etc (the normal process). The instructions weren’t new or surprising but getting that proactive notification is new to me. Seemingly Apple understood I ordered the phone and launched this process to me. Kind of a cool initiative.

IDK why my choice is lagging so much. Since late last night I could see it part of the tracking info from track by reference and I wish UPS would enable a way to verify ourselves so we can see full tracking info. Miss the polls says when it would show everything. I tried contacting apple and UPS neither could get me the details.

It was like that for me last year. I just had to wait and eventually it just randomly showed up with the full tracking number. This year, it showed full tracking info far earlier than it ever has for me; I don’t know what the deal is.

Looks like those with ZhengZhou, CN - Origin Scan of 3 PM are seeing these departure scans. Both my phones have 3:05 PM and 3:07 PM Origin Scans… eagerly waiting to see Thing 1 & Thing 2 departure scans!

Team UPS CC Hold:

I just received a response from UPS on having my package held for pick up at my local Customer Center (CC).

Looks like we need to hold tight until our babies are Stateside.

“Looking over the tracking number, this package still has not reached the US. Once package arrives at the delivery center you may submit the request. Please monitor on ups.com.“

And by “delivery center“ I think they mean Kentucky and not Alaska.

So sheer curiosity - what's the drawbacks against eSim on a regular basis? I know for myself, there's times I need to test connectivity with mobile data, or just pull it out all together and see how the device reacts, so eSim would totally prevent that. But if you went with a phone that you know you don't need to change the SIM card out, what would going eSIM be that would make it suck?

I know when I get a new phone from AT&T every year but I buy through Apple it has a new Sim card in it so what is the difference here? Sorry I’m just not understanding why you’re encouraging people to call AT&T to get a new physical Sim card when the phones come with it at least my phone is come with it every year since I’ve been doing this since 2007

FYI - Purchasing from Apple this year will have your iPhone ship with an eSIM - no physical SIM will be in the phone

I saw the opposite of increase kind of. I work for USPS and we usually get 50% off all accessories EXCEPT APPLE.

On launch day I logged into my ATT account and the Apple cases were discounted by 50%!!! So I got one silicone, one leather and one clear, hard case for $25 each! Regular price is $59 (leather) and $49 I think.
They removed the discount around midnight that night, but my invoice still says $75 plus tax for all three so....
Now I hope that they ship.

Mistake, Apple subsidized, to draw traffic....no way as they were hammered already.

I'm not a FlightAware expert by any means, so bear with me. I'm not seeing any Cargolux flights that departed from CGO to ANC today. However, a Kalitta Air flight 815 is currently en route from CGO to ANC (departed at 8:44 pm local time), with another Kalitta flight scheduled to depart at 10:10 pm. Is it possible that Apple is using this airline?

I have the same issue. I can get that, but nothing in My Choice.

I had the same issue on the UPS site, even after logging into My Choice, but my UPS app on my iPhone displayed the shipping info immediately. So my silver 13 Pro 512gb is sitting in ZhengZhou, even though my order status on apple.com and in the Apple store app still says PTS. I knew Apple was behind in scanning in our status info.

According to FlightAware, that was a repositioning flight.

I don't want to get anyone's hopes up but if phones are being shipped out this early, some of you could very well get your phones a day or so early. I know it happened with the iphone 5, 7, and X with a few people I know in person and online.

you will not get it early. Part of the deal is for phones to stay locked up till Thursday. Since they are in batches they won't be released individually till that date.
