Macbook '16 bought April same year, has no problems with its port.

That being said, I have had to find a needle and remove junk from the port 3 times now, since it wasn't working due to small pieces of material clogging up in there.

I do find Lightning to be a vastly better connector, but I will pick USB-C over USB-A any day. And I don't miss Magsafe in any way, since I just charge it overnight on a table anyway, with the wire tugging behind a table, so no chance of tripping over anything or knocking the machine down. The few times I've had the need for bringing the charger out, I just use my brain to the smallest extent and charge it safely.

I bought an L-shaped magnetic USB-C port adapter from eBay (10 bucks). It works quite okay, charging works just like normal. I would’ve just wanted a T-shape instead of L-shape. I’ve been using it for a few months.

I’ve had two 12” macbooks and on both computers the USB-C port has become so loose that it has resulted in disconnected charging issues (before I got the magnetic adapter).

I too purchased a USB-C magnetic adapter, and I'm very happy with it. The dongle basically remains permanently in the USB port unless I need to attach something else other than just power. I got mine on amazon.

I've had my MacBook Pro 13" w/Touch Bar (4 USB-C TB3 ports) for about 1.5 years now, I've put it through 530 cycles and the ports are pretty much like new.

Wasn't USB-C designed to wear the cable rather than the port, that way the cable only needed to be replaced instead of an expensive port replacement?

I've since gotten an Anker braided USB-C cable which sticks much better than Apple's official cable.

I bought a Macbook 12" Retina, and my USB-C port has been fine. Suddenly though, it no longer works, and no longer charges my Macbook. So beware! I took it to the Apple Store, and they said it would cost roughly $110 to replace (as my AppleCare expired a month ago!!!) I basically have a nice gold paperweight with the Apple logo on it... Anyone have experience with this??

We just took our 2017 MacBook 12” Retina, bought in December of 2017 (so just 1 month over a year old) and was told it would be $600 to fix. Is my local Apple Store ripping me off?

In my case, I had to pay approximately €100 for the repair. Please bring your MacBook to another authorized place and ask them for repair, $600 doesn't sound right to me.
