Resolved USB Thumb Drives and SD Cards NOT Bootable as of macOS Big Sur or Later (was: M1 Macs, boot system from USB Thumb Drives/SD cards possible?)

Hi guys, what a trip reading all these threads after I couldn’t boot a fresh errorless installation of macOS Ventura from a USB-C Crucial X8 SSD

Everything worked except when I clicked on the external SSD for the first boot it would just hang a bit and then stay there in the drives selection to boot from. It would only boot from the internal one and I already lowered security

Could have been any particular reason or am I just unlucky? Didn’t try USB-A adapters and stuff yet though..
