Sorry still confused!! When you say GTX460 works, do you mean with the standard dvi to mini display port or must the GPU have a mini display port or atlona adapter (surely this is the case) The only GPU I have seen with a mini display port is a ATI 5970. Are there GTX460s with min display port?

yes, there are GTX460's with GPUs. in order for this to work, the GTX460 HAS to have a DP (or mDP) port! if it does not, then you are looking at $200 for an adaptor to convert DVI/HDMI to DP.

thanks vm, I cant find any nvidia 400 series GPUs with mini displayports but some have displayports. Unless anyone knows better?
i dont think there would be one with mDP - they are more for the laptops so conserve space.
thanks, i assume sound comes out of pc speakers or does a simple additional lead between PC audio out and Mac audio output jack work?
Since the video card on PC only carry video signal, you will need to have PC audio out to speaker or something...
