Seriously, this post is legit? If so, I'll be very shocked...

I completely agree. Everything about the original post seems so cliché and to be polite, 'uninformed.' If the OP just now created a membership here, I would proudly call BS but six months as a member here at MR adds some credibility. At least the guy has good enough credit to buy an iPhone under contract, I assume...

FWIW, here's a completely FICTIONAL video about what the iPhone can do... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YG074zRpTRA

Being into Cyber Security, i know that is possible.
Yes that is possible!!

Check this out.

Well his mother does not own an iphone. I do.
The boy has NEVER had access to my iphone. Never will.

So he can do nothing to my phone, ever.

His mother has no cell phone at all, she had a cheapie verizon phone but her evil husband had it shut off and removed her from his account.

I got her a Belkin Skype phone with Skype in and Skype out numbers for use in my house while she is here. He does know that phone number but we blocked it so he can not call it anymore.

I put her Skype number into google and it shows that it's located on a dock in a refinery in another town, miles away.

If her husband or son show up here I'm calling 911 on them. They've been warned to stay away from my house.

I told her to keep her old cell phone, federal law says that she can still use it to dial 911. We know she can not use the Skype phone to dial 911.

She's going to call his parole officer Monday and report all this BS on her son and see what they have to say about it.

Really, the two of us are about to have a nervous break down from the stress her son and husband are causing. :(

Her son did not buy the iphone himself. Her husband (his step father) bought it for him. In actuality what he did was talk his heavily drunken step father into buying him a cell phone, he agreed to that and handed him his credit card and keys to his truck, he headed to Walmart and bought the top of the line iphone 3gs under contract of course and signed everything under his step father's name.

So the iphone is not in her son's name, it's in her husband's name. But he is such a drunken old sot that he doesn't know or care.

HELP!!

...he was in prison for murder.
!

He was in prison when the iPhone was released and the closest he's ever been to one before Oct 1 was watching Apple commercials in the prison day room....

Thank you very much!

They only gave him ~2 years for murder? I smell baloney.

First off, my mistake, it was ATTEMPTED murder.

Second, ever heard of parole? That's what he's out on. Parole.

Honestly, I've had enough of the accusations here.

I asked a question, could someone use an iphone to pinpoint people as her son was claiming he was doing.

That was all the information I needed, YES or NO.

The general consensus is NO, he can not.

My question has been answered, my friend is somewhat relieved now and can rest a little easier thanks to the good hearted people that were kind enough to provide a straight up answer.

To the rest that feel like harassing me over the details of what this was all about, I have no use for you. I have nothing to say to you. I'm done.

The question has been answered. I don't need additional harassment from total strangers.

Will someone in charge please lock and or delete this entire thread?

I'm so turned off from the accusations here that I am going to request for my account at this forum to be deleted.

Thank you.

Good night. To some.

"He was IN prison when it was released", not "he WENT to prison when it was released." you don't know how many years he was in prison for prior to the release of the iPhone.
