Has anyone been able to find and screen protectors for sale/pre-order for the new 12.9 iPad Pro? It’s slightly smaller than the last 12.9 Pro so it’s got its own unique size I think right? Can’t find anything anywhere unless there’s an already released size that fits it?

What brand matte screen protector are you using?

Sorry, if you've already answered, I can't seem to find the post. Thanks!
I'm quite pleased with Mr Shield brand matte protectors. Each and every device I've applied it to was a perfect application. They provide everything you need for an air bubble free, dust-free application. I was never ever able to apply one perfectly before and ended up going to the mall kiosk to have them apply it. Even applying one to my 1st gen 12.9 Pro's massive screen was perfect.

They are very inexpensive (5 for $10) but they're good, for me at least... for those with superhuman X-Men type vision who can spot individual pixels on a retina display from 20 ft away, I recommend they avoid this protector. :)

Maybe one of you could tell us which matte protectors you are using...?!? That would be helpful...

I have iCarez on two of mine and the ones for the 11” are already on Amazon. It’s about $10 for two.

When the original Pro and Pencil were launched they explained in the Keynote that they had gone without the oleophobic coating as the slightly thinner screen provided a better experience with the pencil. The gen 1 was horrendous for finger prints and collecting cruft.

Clearly they have brought it back as new versions are better, but it may well be a lesser coating than other iPads get.
Well many were saying that the 2nd gen Pros felt like they had a little more friction which was a good thing when using the Pencil. I figured they jacked with the coating.

Do you find this screen protector gives a better feel for the pencil, or is it about the same as just writing on the screen?

I don’t leave my screens bare for longer than it takes to get them home and slap a screen protector on them. The matte screen protectors have a little “tooth” so I find writing on the screen protector to be more like writing on paper than writing on the bare screen. What little I’ve tried the pencil on a bare screen (at the store), it’s felt like plastic on slippery glass. I doubt that improves with all the fingerprints.

From my experience, it worsens with all the fingerprints because there is no longer a consistency in the resistance. The difference is ever-so-slight but it's there.

I find the experience to slippy. Tried numerous protectors to provide some friction to get that pencil / paper feel with no luck
In all fairness, you're a beastly rugby player... I doubt anything short of 100 grit sand paper would offer noticeable friction.

I had problems with wobbly brushstrokes when using a tempered glass protector and found another artist on YouTube with the same complaint (using two different brands). And I hate how matte screen protectors dull the color.

So I've used mine naked (the iPad not the artist) every day for two years and it's been fine. I carry around a soft cloth in my bag to give it a clean before i use it and I always run my finger over the Pencil tip before I start drawing.

I've thought about giving a glass protector another go but I'm afraid it'll just mess with the sensitivity again.

If you're interested in the most paper-like feeling protector, I suggest "Paperlike"...they have 1st/2nd gen iPP AND preorders for the new iPP's.

I have and use last year’s 10.5 iPad Pro for all my drawing, sketching, or any other form of artwork. Doing so with the Apple Pencil, without a screen protector, is like trying to rollerblade on ice. So I have my IPP in an Otterbox case that has a screen protector cover, but I still wear a Dokiwear glove to wipe the cover as I am doing any artwork.

I use an Otterbox for protection when out and about.
