Torrent apps been on the play store for the longest. I been using Ttorrent.
Yes but that's the only good client and it cost 5 bucks. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw uTorrent up there for free no less.

I been using the lite version. It does have a speed cap of 300kps dwn, but I haven't been downloading anything big on it yet.

I will check utorrent out though :)

And what standard would that be? Free torrent apps?
The rise of popular yet illicit desktop apps finally being released on mobile app stores.

There's really no reason Apple shouldn't allow uTorrent as it has legit uses, but their iTunes business says otherwise.

I think I would rather the risk of virus/trojans etc which can come from various torrents to hit my iMac than my S3. Not sure how safe or wise it would be for me to use my only phone for torrents.

I do have to say in Apple's favour, if App store is such crap, then why can't I get a compatible version of PvZ in Android Play store??? (GS3 Canada)

I've been doing this already with BitTorrent which was already available. (Not talking about BitTorrent Remote)

Am I missing something?

Let's say for a minute Apple allows you to have torrent apps on the App Store. And you manage to add a torrent to it which it promptly downloads the file with.

What would you then do with said file ?

And anyone that thinks Torrents are just about pirating have not been hanging the open source community. Torrents are used a ton there for big software image distribution. There's quite a lot more to torrents then "illicit activity", BitTorrent itself is not illicit.

Play it? View it? Read it?...?

Yes, I'm reading it all. I'm just trying to understand how the release of uTorrent today signals a new standard.
You're not reading what I said. I said popular yet illicit desktop apps.

You cannot call a torrent app safe, ok, etc and then say Apple needs to ALSO let illicit apps in their store. So which is it? Is uTorrent illicit or not? I say no and in that case, Apple doesn't have to change their standards. Keeping truly illicit apps out of their store isn't a bad thing.

I mean illicit in terms of not being allowed in many places such as App Stores, University networks, etc.

My idea of a truly illicit app is something that is only used to do something illegal by Federal law.

If that is what you believe then stop using the word illicit in your posts FFS.

Jeez, fair enough then. I figured people knew what I was saying by "popular yet illicit" but I guess not.
