I know most people wouldn't torrent on their phone but can you guys believe this? I thought Google would never allow something like this on their store.

Apple's store is really looking quite gutless these days. This release should signal a new kind of App standards for stores today.

Google allows just about anything into the playstore. not surprising at all.

...App Store left in dust? It's not going to concern the vast majority of iOS users, and those that it does have iTransmission in Cydia to use. Getting uTorrent is pretty awesome though, I'm going to grab it for my Nexus now.

I personally paid for the tTorrent pro version. I almost never use a lite version of a product, especially a good one like tTorrent. I hate ads and I like supporting our Android developers.

Apple would never put a torrent app in the app store. Goes against set policy of anti-pirating, and let's not fool ourselves, a lot of people use torrent sites to pirate movies, programs, music, etc... And as a 3rd party application, Apple couldn't monitor this or stop malware.

From within the torrent app ? That makes it a very complicated torrent app... So you want torrents, video player, audio player, ebook reader, all-in-one ?

For free nonetheless.

Sure, why not? Are you saying it's not possible? And who said anything about it being free? I would gladly pay for something like that (Then again, not anymore since I got it for FREE on my SG3). But as you and I know very well... they are not allowed in the App Store.

Jeez, fair enough then. I figured people knew what I was saying by "popular yet illicit" but I guess not.

Pretty sure based on the comments that no one who has posted knew. To me, you were saying that you believed Apple should allow illicit apps LIKE uTorrent ... seemed clear to me what you were saying.

I personally don't torrent anything on my Mac, so not likely I would do so on my iPhone or iPad

I realize there are legitimate uses for torrents, I just haven't had the need for them myself

Therefore, it is a non-issue for me, and likely the majority of other users

there has been torrent applications on Android for a while. So why now? just because its a more popular client??

Why wouldn't they let a torrent app in when they let torrent remotes in?

No point to downloading open source software, such as a Linux distro, via torrent with an iOS device.

Other legitimate usage might apply -> http://vo.do

But, I don't see a huge demand for torrent in iOS.

tTorrent is the best app by far and also offers a really good tablet experience. This "new" uTorrent App is currently just an exact clone of the official BitTorrent App.

The only thing different is the colour and the icons.

Unnecessary.
uTorrent has a great web app for remote controlling of torrents on home PC. Where there is a faster connection, multiple connections, more storage, no bandwidth limits.

If there is a document I need on mobile, can access from mobile via logmein app or dropbox.

Cant really say im sure what a torrent is so............I guess i cant relate.

I've been using the BitTorrent app which works fine on Android, and like SlCKB0Y said this uTorrent app just looks like a clone of that.

They're both owned by the same company. Bittorrent Inc. acquired the small independent software uTorrent years ago and merged it with their existing software.
