A potentially better voice network, based upon your location? That's about it. They don't owe switchers anything, in my opinion.

Being able to make an hour long phone call on my iPhone from my house, priceless.

If you're an area with good AT&T reception, I agree there's not much of a reason to switch. However if you're not...

I never understood this line of thinking. Sure it's probably nice to know you can't go over a data cap, but I feel like I'm on my phone A LOT and I've yet to ever go over 1.25 GB. The data isn't useful enough to make this my only access point to the Internet, and it's incredibly hard on your eyes to stare at the iPhone's tiny text for hours on end. I've already noticed my eyes being strained and I don't have unlimited data.

So because you don't go over 1.25gb you can't understand why someone else would? What if people have different apps or games or uses for the iPhone? Are the apps that you don't use allowed for other people to use in your "line of thinking?" Is someone using their iPhone more not allowed either? I mean, huh? I am not sure why exactly you feel that your use has anything even remotely to do with my own use or anyone elses as I doubt you & I have even remotely the same likes/dislikes/uses/etc...

I use between 5g-7g per month if that and rarely am I ever video streaming on it. I use quite a bit of news apps, maybe some music streaming, MAYBE some Youtube clips, a good bit of email, and some other things. There is nothing in my usage that is "abusing" the system yet I go over the laughable 2gb cap every month. And no, I don't have any strain on my eyes or any other issues. Maybe that is something you deal with and not others.

I still laugh at some who try to pass off their own usage as the way it should be and anyway going over what they did, THEY ARE ABUSING IT! Hey grandma, you watched 2-3 Netflix films? OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!

my view on incentives is that Verizon will offer one when the next iPhone comes. There has been a ton of reservation among users right now, in hopes of a release of a new iPhone. When that becomes available, Verizon and ATT will both have incentives that make sense to different crowds. I would find it very foolish on Verizons part to offer an incentive to a current phone that's about to be replaced. Again, just my $.02

I don't see that happening. They really didn't (to my knowledge) offer any incentives to existing customers prior to the initial roll out. I don't believe they altered anyone's upgrade date. Quite the contrary they removed the new every two year plan.

As for trying to lure AT&T customers to VZW, they do that by highlighting their network's advantage over AT&T and conversely AT&T tries to keep their customers by highlighting their network's advantage over VZWs.

All in all, I think VZW will continue what they've been doing for years, marketing the strength of their network and less on providing a discount or other pricing controls to lure customers.

you're lying.

if you're using it the way you say you are, there's no way you're exceeding even 1GB of data per month. i know this because that's the kind of usage pattern i actually do have and i have never exceeded 1GB in a month, and my device's wifi radio is never turned on, ever.

and since my usage is what it is, i'd rather save a few bucks than have the comfort of an 5GB plan i'd never fully use. it's like paying $100/mo for unlimited voice and not using it... i simply dont see the value in paying more for something i'm just not using.

Actually they altered my upgrade date, I was due for an upgrade this coming October, and they let me get a new iPhone on the Feb. 3rd pre-order launch.

Nice, glad that worked out for you. I'm not bitter that they didn't alter mine. I wasn't expecting them too, especially since I'm on an annual contract which is set to expire in the summer.

I wish I were lying. It would make me feel a hell of a lot better about my daily use and allow me to do everything I want without the laughably low data cap. Unfortunately, there is nothing that I am lying about. Just looking at my usage right now, I am rounding the corner of 4gb with a week or so to go. Have not watched a single Netflix/Hulu movie. Watched several youtube clips, maybe 15-20 total minutes of Pandora music streaming, lots of email, lots of news apps, and other uses through apps. If someone is lying, it is a person claiming to do what I do and not go over 1gb.

As I said above, this idea that people should NOT use a certain amount because other people don't is such an absolutely comical argument. It basically means that since some people themselves use the iPhone in a certain way, everyone else should do the same "just because". The self-righteous bullcrap in that is unreal. In several years, we have gone from "abusers" being people downloading 24/7 or teethering 24/7 to "abusers" now being grandmothers watching several Netflix movies.
