Just Saw the UI video God it looks confusing and ugly as heck ill stick with my iphone.

Just curious... What part looked painful?

The contacts was great! They just touch the person and all the options are right there to call, text, email or whatever. Then as he's about to email he see's he got a message, pulls down the message log, and can respond to that person, and then when done switches back to his email. Now that's multitasking put to good use. :D

Do any of you own, or know someone that owns, a Blackberry, Pre, or Android phone? How well do they REALLY handle backgrounding of multiple apps? How's battery life? Does it ever get to be a pain to manage what's running?
I own a Pre. It handles background tasks fine. Battery life is dependent on which apps you have running. Typically I have open Memos, Tweed (twitter app), calendar and IM. I'll make a few calls during the day, a few texts/IMS, a few tweets, e-mail checking in the background, etc., and don't have a problem getting thru a typical 10-11hr day. When I'm on the road and have Pandora and Sprint Nav (GPS) running that sucks the battery down really quick, but the car charge supplies enough juice to power the phone and charge the battery so no problem there.

Unless you are a very un-computer literate person I don't see how it can become a pain to manage what's running. It's 2009. A multitasking computer environment is nothing new. People learned how to balance battery life and productivity on laptops so learning it on a phone shouldn't be any different.

Are their bumps in the road? Yeah, nothing is perfect (especially first gen products). I'm looking forward to what Palm does w/the Pre 2 though and will most likely upgrade when it comes out. I spent a few weeks comparing the iPhone & ATT to the Pre & Sprint before I made my choice.
