Mission Control is definitely a step back when compared to spaces. Spaces made sense, and made things very simple. Mission Control just doesn't seem to work right (application assignment, the ability to only go left and right).
I can get used to mission control if only my logitech performance MX mouse buttons worked again. Until then, I am hating lion more and more each day.
As far as a touchpad is concerned... I gave it another shot, but unless you are on a hard flat surface, the clicking of the touchpad isn't solid. On a laptop, I don't mind Lion because I have a built in touchpad that is solid when you press down on it.
