I experience the same issues when using a special (internal) network speed test app using Wifi 6. It does not happen with other apps or when using wired Ethernet. So it is probably a network API issue or a bug in the network stack which only shows itself on iPad Pro 2021 and Wifi6?

I finally got to test my iMac transfer speeds via wifi. My iMac is a late 2012 model though, so it's quite ancient at this point.

Anyways, USB-A from iMac to USB-C for iPad Pro 11" 2021, averaged 43MB/s or 344Mb/s.

Via wifi, 5GHz band, it was painfully slow at 3MB/s or 24Mb/s. Very odd indeed.
This was just transferring downloaded movie files from TV+ on the iMac, sync over wifi to the iPad.

Internet speed test for that same iMac is 320Mb/s down and 50Mb/s up. My plan is 1Gb down and 50Gb up. iMac is 23 feet away from the Netgear Nighthawk RAX120 (AX12) router, two rooms.

Thanks for checking that. It’s becoming pretty clear that smb and afp have issues in ipados. I’ve submitted a bug report but it would be really helpful if other did as well, definitely stratospherix has some work to do too with FileBrowser, which is a bummer because it’s a pro app with very good features.

I've talked with the guys at Stratospherix. The FileBrowser products use the same iOS API's as the Files app so they are at the mercy of iOS. While their transfers are not faster, I do find them more dependable/robust.

That’s interesting because I can’t believe readdle aren’t doing the same thing with documents, which was almost four times faster for me.

Wow. That’s incredible. Thanks so much for taking the time to post that back to this thread!
