Why does Apple not want Video recording?

Because they are too forward thinking and have decided to skip video and wait for holography phones. I guess they also feel that cameras over 2 megapixels are the future of photography. Think retro.

If apple wanted video recording on the iphone, they would've done it when the iphone first came out, or at least when the iphone 3g came out..

Just like Apple didnt want any one to be able to move around their icons on the screen

until they provided an update.

They have a list and are not going to release everything at the same time. People need to learn patience and Apple is just the company to teach us all.:D

Go :apple:

But in any case, video recording is a much more of a standard on phones nowdays than copy-paste, and not including it the first time, or the second time, is just makes it obvious that it won't happen. That's all i'm saying. And me and i'm sure alot of other people will turn to jailbreaking even more if apple continues on this path of denying people what they want (especially since all those features are available on most lesser phone)

Janet, I've got to disagree with you on this. Apple could have waited until they had video capture and cut/copy/paste working right, BEFORE they released the iPhone....and gave up LOTS of $$$$$$. Or, they could say, "what is the minimum feature set we can/want to release the iPhone with?"...so they have a product to sell, and make money, while they're working on fleshing out and testing the other features....

Just my opinion, YMMV...

But if they want to be a powerful mobile platform for people to create the most amazing apps, then it has to be open enough, and it has to support the most basic features that make mobile phones or smartphones great.

It also has to work right - we can see at the moment what happens when they rush stuff out the door. I think the other features are coming, they just want to bugfix the basic OS first.

Unfortunately alot of those are missing from the iphone, such as video recording, a proper gps, copy-paste, file managment, a working push mail, etc.

Erm, how much more proper can GPS get than a GPS chip with A-GPS? Unless you mean turn-by-turn directions, which I think most people agree is coming (TomTom have a working prototype anyhow). Also, the push mail does work flawlessly with Exchange, so I'm not sure where you got "a working push mail" from.

Valid point. But, it's somehow hard to believe that Apple would have hard time developing those features, and some guy made it for jailbreaked iphones. Also, most video/photo cameras on other phones have much higher refresh rates and sensitivity than the one on the iPhone, and that leads me to believe that Apple never even thought of having video recording on the iphone. Maybe they'll have it on the next release, and make more money. Think about it...if they had 3g and gps on the first release of the iphone, they wouldn't have made so much money.

This is what will most-likely happen. A future major iPhone release (hopefully the next one) is going to feature mostly "camera" upgrades: higher megapixel, videorecording, and perhaps a front camera for conferencing. After all, what else can future phone models offer that's NOT doable with just software? There's not much to physically change, honestly. GPS is already here, it just needs the right software. We don't want a smaller phone, as that will impact the screen size. Capacity upgrades, sure -- but most people don't care enough about that to update their phone (and with apps like SimplifyMedia - it's not as important anymore). Different colors/new look? Not "big" enough.

So camera functions are sure to come -- Apple just needs the current phone to run its life cycle first...

But i dont WANNA buy another phone! I want ONE big software update which will give me a video recorder, MMS, and copy paste. Although the only NESSECARY one (in my eyes) is the video recorder. I dont know how many times i thought to myself, "i;ll just record with my phone.. nope, wait. I cant"

I have to say, i will be pissed if they offer video recording in the next iphone, but not for existing iphones.

Oh, I think they'll offer video recording for ALL iPhone models, but I have a feeling they'll debut it along with a new phone that focuses on improved camera functions...
