I'm having this same freezing issue too, even on the most up to date 12.1. Cursor freezing and video freezing at least multiple times a day. Way worse than my old macbook.

I couldn’t find a resolution and ended up returning my MBP 14.

Safe mode reduces the freezing time from 10-20sec to 3-5sec.

Have you tried turning off dark or auto mode? I tried this in the final day before I had to return the laptop but didn’t have time to test if it fixed the issue.

One thing that I've noticed lately is that video pauses and audio continues if I'm in Firefox and switched to another tab or if I switch virtual desktops. This appears to be an optimization that if a video isn't being displayed on a screen, then the video processing stops. It can take a moment or two for the video to resume when I bring back the tab with the video running or the virtual desktop. I've noticed this on my Intel Macs as well.

Wonder if this has any relation to the IOS video screw up. Where video only works in Safari for some sites.
