The whole „must be perfectly fitted to A person“ makes this product already dead before arrival to me like if a household cannot even share it … do they expect you to buy 3+ of these for a household? I can hardly picture my former tech university justifying this purchase „sorry you can’t use this vision pro in the lab, it’s been fit for student A only“
They can buy 2 or 3 light shields and head bands and it will be enough for most people to get a "good enough" fit. They'll probably want extras for sanitary reasons anyway.
Or they can use a third party accessory that's more flexible. Many VR users have replaced the headband that comes with their headset for a headband made for another headset.

Lenses will be a bigger issue. Most existing VR headsets have enough room that users can wear glasses underneath, but as headsets get slimmer that will be less common. Within a few generations Apple will want lenses that can dynamically adjust focus, so the user won't even have to use custom inserts, except for cases of astigmatism.

That must be one well-off household if they can afford three or more $3,500 headsets

This product is a failure at this very moment. The only thing that could make it more interesting if they are able to downsize it to regular glasses. Still I would not recommend such device. Technology will be far more advanced later, for now this has no purpose whatsoever.
It does not have a purpose for you, as for me it is a much-needed and welcome product, I whished Apple would have had them sooner, I will use it for work, entertainment, and a host of other things.

Yes, but after you slip one on, a blue light flashes and then subliminal messaging begins to sneak into your thoughts:

  • There was NOT a lot going on using Vpro.
  • This is the best product ever made.
  • How could anyone get by without one?
  • That's not a notch, it was more screen RE to the left and right.
  • The price hike is driven only by inflation, supply chain, covid or <other>, not Apple Inc.
  • This is an essential device all must own.
  • I was holding that iPhone 4 wrong.
  • No other $20 handkerchief is even close to comparing to the Apple one.
  • I am willing to pay ANY price for Apple stuff from this day forward... and I must collect them ALL!!!
  • Patent protections should only apply to Apple patents.
  • 99% actually DON'T need what Apple does not have for sale right now... but 100% definitely DO need it when Apple rolls out THEIR version of it in the future.
  • All good monitor stands should cost $1000. And everyone should own 1 to use and at least 1 for backup.
  • I will connect my bank account directly to Apple so they can just take whatever they need.
  • I pledge my supreme allegiance to the one and only Apple, above all others and forevermore.
...and so on.

All ;)

I worked for Apple during the iPhone 4 debacle...goodness it was horrible...that phone really should have been recalled. You can tell it was a defective design because the very next model - the CDMA iPhone 4 - was not affected at all.

That’s really lame. Apple isn’t getting the best start with this. And it’s going to take a lot of transparency to ensure people don’t have instant buyers remorse.
This is a $3500 computer monitor for ONE person. You likely also won't be able to install ad-block software on this, so there is going to be an enormous amount of buyers remorse at that price tag.

Do we know this for sure? I suspect you’re right if you want extra fittings. I would hope the experience will be like a more complex version of being fitted for an Apple Watch band and that your fit is included in the price.
Yes, during the video, the parts are shown to be magnetically swappable. Oh, AND from the folks that got to try them out… Apple was getting info from them up front so that the right parts could be attached right before their demo.

No - one device can still be shared. You’ll need buy individual light seals for each person to get the correct fit.
While what you say about the light seals is true, sharing Vision Pro sounds like a total pain (according to Macworld):

"The primary user has their settings, such as EyeSight, saved to the device. In a Guest account, the user would have to perform an EyeSight setup each time the Guest account is put to use. The EyeSight setup takes a couple of minutes; a series of dots appear on the screen, and the user has to focus on each one."

Multiple user accounts are not supported. There is a primary account and a guest account. Having to setup the guest account each time it is used makes sharing the Vision Pro next to impossible in a family.

Based on the photo, it looks like you don't need any optic inserts if you wear contact lenses.

Meta quests and all other VR are 'one size to fit them all' and I don't recall people complain they can't be used just because it doesn't fit 'perfectly'. Apple gives you option to have a perfect fit, yet people complain about it.

Does anyone feel like there’s a lot going on when it comes to using Apple Vision Pro? 😭

No. People are just nitpicking ;)

Information on Apple's developer website also mentions a workflow for unpairing an AirTag when returning a kit, which suggests Apple is using its item trackers to keep tabs on the headsets.
This part is confusing… If there’s directions to unpair the AirTag, wouldn’t that mean the AirTag is paired to the developer’s account and the developer is able to keep tabs on it? Otherwise, if Apple is keeping tabs on it, why would the developer need to worry about unpairing it?

My first VR headset, the HTC Vive came with two facial cushions—A normal/wide and a narrow. I preferred the narrow.
My second headset, the Valve Index, only came with a single face cushion. It's a bit too wide for me. If I'm playing VR mini golf, and I look down at the ball, and then rotate my head to look at the hole, the headset slouches to the side.
It's not a big issue, though.

Ty for the writing, but PLEASE stop using this photo its terrible.
This photo perfectly encapsulates the biggest issue with the Apple Vision Pro; how to wear it and not destroy fancy expensive hairstyles.

Not everyone wants hair that looks like they just escaped Whoville.

Apple products are designed for a single person each, not sure why people think Apple will change that stance.

You mean like Macs and Apple TVs, which have multiple user setup available?

I don’t believe the AVP will have multi-user setup either, but to say Apple doesn’t have multiple users on any of their devices is incorrect.

Apples public relation and commercial products division should’ve known better than to put something that was too simple obnoxious. It doesn’t in emphasize the product and emphasize the person

I’m still curious how Vision Pro will work for those who wear glasses. I’m nearsighted. I have prescription glass but not bifocals because they make me sick. I don’t wear my glasses when sitting at my laptop but if I need to see something further away I put them on. Seems like this would be a pain for people who have eyesight issues.

Same issue for me except bifocals do not bother me almost stopped getting the line less ones last time as the need I had for them working with detailed maps at the Illinois Geological Survey where i worked for 34 years they were helpful. I wonder the same I can sit with my ipad in front of me and work fine without glasses if I want.

That the light seal is that customized already feels stupid. For once, to have to get a customized seal for every person that uses it regularly and then change it when in use... that adds an extra hurdle and won't deliver ideal experiences when you show the vision pro to others who don't have that customized insert. That was one the thing that crippled VR - you had to experience it yourself.

The other thing is, that a tight seal is not ideal imho. I tried various Occolus headsets and HTC's Vive and it immediately felt warm, applied a little pressure to the face and got sweaty fast (which then sometimes fogs up the lenses). Compared to that, the PSVR - which also distributed the weight to the middle of the head - felt much better despite it letting a little light in (you immediately forget that, when the VR starts)
