It isnt like Apple hasn't stole their fair share of features from Windows...

most obvious and blantant one is, Front Row = Media Center?

And in general, all big time developers like Apple and Windows, they always steal from one source. The third party developers. Almost every feature they ever get is because someone made a program that worked so well, that a bigger company made their own version, perfected, and killed off the third party programmer who were doing it in their spare time. Apple recently done this with Sherlock, or whatever that useless (IMO) application was.

The only problem being that Apple did it better . . . not to mention integrated it into the standard os . . .

Vista's search capabilities surpass those of Tiger...so they did it better, too???

Uh....

With Media center, i can watch it from anywhere. From a TV even. Front Row? Nope. Front Row cant even record TV shows. Hell, Front Row cant even watch TV.

Also, it is much easier to find codecs than to find components for QT.

So far, yes. Spotlight kinda sucks. I have high hopes for Leopard though and suspect that it will put Vista's search to shame.

Media Centre is far far superior to Front Row in almost every way. Its not as integrated in the OS all that much either, you can only get it if you buy a new Mac. Older ones are out of luck since there's no (legal) way to get it seperately.

this is old news.
It's common knowledge now that Vista's Aero theme is a knockoff of Aqua. But on the plus side, Vista is never going to see the light of day, so who cares? People really need to stop comparing OS X to a piece of VaporWare.

I was merely talking about Media Center but I am not saying the OSX is the only operating system out there that works. My desktop is still a Windows based machine.

a co-worker of mine was all jazzed up about vista after having it installing, and everyone was oohing and aahingg. so i walk over to his desk with my powerbook, and show him how OS x does everything vista does and more. and OSX has been out for some time now :)

everyone was uninanimous in saying "yeah.. you know abram is right, it is just like his OS. guess it isnt that special"

OSX FTW!

Exactly, can you say konfabulator. And I don't even want to bring up Xerox. That being said I have Vista Beta 2 installed on my desktop pc and it seems very different than OS X to me, in the feel, look, etc. Sure, there are apps that share some similarities, but on the whole no one is going to mistaking one for the other.

Does this really matter? I guess it's a good thing since it means Apple will have to keep making OS X better. Competition is good. Hopefully this won't turn into the same thread as the one about Dell copying Apple or maybe we should just not care. Yeah, not caring sounds fine to me.

Not pointing out Vista in particular but it's funny how in an aesthetic sense it seems to be really hard for anyone at all to copy Apple's design. Any company that trys to copy the aesthetics of the hardware or software just ends up looking and feeling like a cheapened version. It'll be interesting to see how the street version of Vista will go in this regard.

On the other hand, if you try something new (whether it is good or not), people will bitch about it....just look at the new UI for the upcoming Office suite.

OS 8 had that in '98... :)

As to the Vista is a copy of OSX I would say its an attempted copy of OS X's style and features but not a direct copy or else it would look more similar. But what do you expect from competition. Innovation? Hah!

umm it something that turn on most XP computer by default. the index in vista and in spot light aver very diffenent and much better.

It was on by default not turn off. A lot of people turn it off for improve system speed but it really not as good as you are trying to make it out to be.
