Coda from Panic. My #1. If you know and like HomeSite for Windows you'll love Coda too. Since it is a v1 I am so exited about the things to come ... even if there is allready loads of cool stuff in it. Give it a try:

Coda is really awkward to use, and way overpriced for what it does. For example: it is completely animated and visually put-together with fading doodads and translucent palettes...but then there is a pause between opening a document and having the code properly colored. wtf? It just feels bungled together.

Another vote for text (code) editor.

Keyboard and visual editor doesn't mix well, so it actually slows me down rather somewhat (I'm a keyboard person). Also, seeing how most of my works are web based, it's not that hard to switch to browser to view the results anyway.

I actually love using vi/vim, but switched to other editor with tab view (or something similar). On Linux I use Kate, and on Mac I use Smultron.

If anyone can point me to vi/m with tab view, or Mac version of Kate, I'd be very happy.

Btw, zimv20, I believe you can turn off the backup files by adding 'set nobackup' in your vimrc file.

yeah.. and it doesn't even support all the mac-standard shortcuts (command + right arrow doesn't go to the end of the line. there is NO WAY to go to the end of the line. WTF!?)
