I love this little program and have never had a problem with it. Always choose "go nuts" and it just works. I'm glad they added iPhone support now, I now can memorize family guy on the go.

I think a lot of you folks would benefit from the AppleTV Fooler applescript, which basically creates a wrapper that allows for files to be added to iTunes library without needing to be converted with VisualHub etc.

That is cool, but in order to use that, one needs to install Perian to AppleTV first..? And that does not work without opening the case - which I wouldn't really want to do...

Hey everyone.

I'm desperately looking for a program to convert my .wmv files to .mp4. I downloaded VLC Media Player, which does not seem to be working as the audio lags behind the video. I downloaded iSquint just now and then a popup came up for VisualHub. I searched for it and it looks like everyone likes it.

My question is if it'll do what I want - convert wmv to mp4.

I'm trying to search for something that's free first, but if possible I'll buy something that'll do it. But for now there HAS to be some programs that'll do it right? Man I hate windows files .. wish I never owned a PC.

ANY help would be MUCH appreciated!

Subtitle into MP4 from mkv files

If you have the .srt file make sure it has the same file name (not the extension ofcourse) and place it into the same directory.

In visual hub goto advanced setting. Then set tick into Force quicktime encoding.

If perian is installed the subtitles will be put in the resulting mp4 file.

You can test if the subtitle file is ok to play the movie first standalone in quicktime. If you see there subtitles they will be converted with VH.

Conversion of WMV files

I Think that if you install Flip4mac WMV than you will be able to convert then using VH.

im using VH for a year now and its great but last week im trying to convert an mkv file but the VH is saying unsupported

anyone encountered this?any help is gladly appreciated.

Switch to new Handbrake!

I recently updated to the latest build of Handbrake. It now converts almost any file as long as Perian and Flip4mac are installed.

Much less jitter and artefacts than in VH and much quicker.

I also believe that the development of VH is stopped.

Handbrake and Perian

Are you suggesting that Handbrake uses Perian and Flip4Mac?

Well I am not sure. But in older version you couldn't convert .mkv or .avi files. Is the current version you can. Maybe they have a new engine or using external tools like perian.

Perian and Flip4Mac are codecs that QT uses and have nothing to do with HB.

HB decodes most of its non-dvd sources in 0.9.3 via its own internal ffmpeg, again I say *most* as some of HB's own decoders are frankly better than ffmpeg's.

The only thing that Perian and Flip4Mac do is allow QT to play more formats after HB is done doing its thing.

The latest release of Handbrake (came out last week) includes the libavcodec and libavformat libraries from the ffmpeg project. That's what has allowed Handbrake to read other formats besides DVD (mpeg2). It's still not perfect as it doesn't seem to like .avi files from my P&S digital camera (Canon).
