will vmware and running office 07 run slow? i really dont want that...that is why i am avoiding office 2004....

maybe i should just wait for office 08...i pretty much need basics...i hardly even use offices' features

Any virtualized machine is going to run slower than native, but I can't say how slow it will be for you. My experience with only 1GB is that Windows runs noticeably slower than I would expect, so any app running in Windows is going to seem slow. Most colleges sell Microsoft sw quite cheaply, however, sometimes for as little as $10 a disk. You might check into that as it could be the cheapest route yet (except for OpenOffice, of course, which I cannot stand).

Its not really a matter of whether VMware would run it slow. Its whether your system would run it slow. If your system can handle it then VMware can handle it. There is a very small performance hit when using VMware. Granted that you have adequate RAM.

macbook 2.0 ghz...1gb ram....
i really want vm ware...cuz i want to run some old comp games i have...just cant afford it...

for the time being...ill run iwork 08...just for word processing...
i also have another laptop which is a thinkpad that i got good use for, for 3 years...it has office 2003...and ill use that too..

No problem. I recommend you upgrade to 2 gigs of RAM if you want a really good vmware experience.
