I’ve used both platforms nearly daily for years. I’m good with my own hot take.

I’ve read every post in the thread. It’s just preferences and cliched spec arguments that have been disproven time and again. RAM isn’t even what’s necessary for Face ID, so even the tech arguments being made aren’t very sophisticated.

I think there’s a point when you’ve purchased and used enough tech that you get really good at distinguishing a tangible benefit to how you use tech vs what’s marketing material fodder for spec sheet junkies.

Example: 256gb of storage on an iPhone 8+ is more important to me than OLED 5.8” screen and Face ID with 64gb for more money with the iPhone X.

I can do business with a man (or woman) like you!

Those of us who get this stuff know the 8 Plus is the smart iOS choice this year. That doesn’t mean I’m not interested in the X but it ain’t the smart money.

The smart money will buy the note 8 for the same price as a S8 after xmas!

Besides what has already been mentioned ....

On screen battery life is really not that great anymore on iPhones compared to the on screen life many Android phone have. Stand-by life is near equivalent to the iPhone on most Android phones running Nougat.

Apple needs to get rid of the lighting cable/port, like yesterday!!! Proprietary cables without a true advantage sucks, and the lighting cable has the highest failure rate.

I don’t think Apple has any vision when it comes to cable connectivity. They are all over the map.

Some devices have Lighting, others have USB, others have USB-C, others are USB Micro. Some devices have headphone jacks, others don’t. New iPhones can’t connect to new MacBook Pro’s out the box.

It’s a joke and will take years to sort out. Ideally next year EVERYTHING in Apple’s catalog, including Beats, will consolidate around USB-C.

Won’t happen though. This confusion and convoluted cable scheme is deliberate and part of how Apple nickle and dimes the hell out of customers.

The accessories might move to C, but the phone will likely lose the port completely instead.

The only reason I can’t see that happening is Apple would then have to ship their device with a wireless charger for free so people could actually charge their phones.

And that ain’t happening. Tim Cook’s head would explode.

In a world where you can buy a wireless charger for 10$, I can see them adding one that costs 5$ for them to buy in bulk and adding 10-20$ onto the total cost.

This "wireless charger" better be capable of transmitting data at a fast rate then. I'll never buy an iPhone that you can't connect to the computer for updates/restores/etc.
