Considering phones need to be secured due to financial things like Apple Pay, it’s either going to have the full Face ID or a home button with Touch ID.

All these false modesty of what the SE could be with Face ID, the notch, and OLED display, etc. None of that’s going to happen. If the iPhone SE is updated, it’s likely going to be a minor refresh, with a physical home button, perhaps an updated resolution, camera upgrades etc. The SE was _never_ meant to be the pinnacle of what the other iPhone X models are currently. This phone was meant to be an entry-level phone to be an affordable device, with a 4 inch form factor and a global phone for countries where smart phones are exorbitant in price. That’s it.

@Relentless Power, not that I disagree with you, but why are you posting the exact same thing over and over and over again? Just let the SE-lovers discuss the rumors and let them dream about the ‘too good to be true’ kind of rumors. No one knows for sure what Apple has in the pipeline, so in theory everything is possible.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I personally think the SE was made for all the peeps that still like a 4 inch devices rather than just a low end phone. I won't speculate on what Apple has in mind concerning the SE2 because I would more than likely be wrong. Lets just wait and see.

I am waiting for a updated SE. I would pay X prices for a SE sized phone with updated features. If all I get is a faster SE then I"m good with that too. I want a small form factor.

Who says there will be an SE 2? Nothing but online speculation and rumors. They may not even bother if they are in fact getting ready for more styles of the X.

That’s hyperbole and inaccurate. Nothing remotely in any of my posts has been duplicated. I can play the role of a cynic in contradicting any rumors or predictions.

Just let the SE-lovers discuss the rumors and let them dream about the ‘too good to be true’ kind of rumors.

You’re suggesting I’m not allowing others to have opinions or expressing their thoughts, which is also inaccurate. Part of discussion reference the SE is to provoke thought, critical discussion and challenge others to think outside the _Rumor_ spectrum. I can contradict any post I see fit, its the nature of discussion.

No one knows for sure what Apple has in the pipeline, so in theory everything is possible.

Right, which means my views that don’t align with others are just as valid as someone who chooses to believe the SE will be refreshed. Its all relevant, but it doesn’t mean I can’t disagree. And being this a rumored website, Its fairly obvious we know all is theory. But nor does it mean others cannot differ in opinions other. Not sure why You would address something we already know about speculation.

I am not stating that people can not differ in opinions. I am stating that you are posting your chynical opinion as fact, while it is based on the same thing as the opinion from others: nothing but speculation and gut feeling. I just wanted to let you know that you could leave some room for the positive vibe about the SE but you are clearly missing the point of my post.

Perhaps they have a lot of stock they can't shift? I'm holding my nerve and see what gets announced(if anything) in 2 1/2 weeks. My hope is the SE looks the same with the 8 internals/camera and perhaps glass back for wireless charging

I could make the same argument in return reference the Bolded.. None of my post(s) has been negative, its you choosing to interpreting it that way. Rather others want agree with what I have to say or not, that’s their prerogative. For the record, plenty of other members of agreed with what I have had to say about the SE. Regardless about the iPhone SE, I can be a realist as much as I want, because a lot of these rumors are false modesty fan-art renders are that have not been factual or will ever be a reality to begin with. That’s been proven time and time again over these rumors and I’m not sure why I need instill a positive vibe if I want to contradict somebody else’s opinion or view. Perhaps you just don’t want to hear the that an SE has a high probability of _not_ being updated. That would be my take on this.

I bought a iPhone SE half a year ago. I regret it. Its way too small. It hurts my eyes when I concentrate to long on the screen. I never use it at home. And its horrible when typing because of the small keyboard.

I wont buy the iPhone SE 2 either.

I am 100% it wont be a full display with face unlock and a notch. That would make the price go up to 600$. And compete with the current iPhone 7/8 sales. Use commen sense pls.

Apple wont shoot his own leg.

Interesting. I use my SE as a daily driver and have for 2 years. I don’t own a laptop, or any computer, so this has been where I make every post on this forum - and anywhere else online. The size is fine for my fingers and I am a male with average sized hands. Hmmm. I even edit all of my Instagram photos on the 4 inch screen only. I’ve never had issues...

I’m curious to know, whats your battery life like with your usage?

Their is now an Android phone on sale with that, so it can be done! Blimey if Apple did do that they won’t be able to keep up with demand judging by people’s reaction to Face ID.

A chinese company (Vivo) manage to implement fingerprint sensor under the screen, so hopefully Apple will learn how to do this sooner then later...

I like the SE design and would love to see a SE2. Frankly I think the SE is the last iPhone with an aesthetic design, I don’t like the size and particularly the camera bulge of the later versions. They wouldn’t even lay on the table without wobbling...
I like small and thin, wasn’t it Steve himself who said similar things about phablets and pens?
Same is true for the iPads, I certainly hope there will be an iPad mini 5 this year rather than the ever growing tablets...
If they came with the latest tech even better, would love to get one, but I think they will be positioned as low end (if they show up at all). A pity really...
Q.

Genuinely curious, what makes you think Apple will eventually ever introduce a finger print reader under the display? According to Craig Federighi, they did experiment with the fingerprint sensor under the display and ultimately scrapped that in favor of Face ID. Some have speculated that Apple was not successfully able to do it, but either way, Apple did state that Face ID is their future.

Also, it was rumored that Samsung was experimenting with the fingerprint sensor under the Note 9 display, but they encountered complications as well and allegedly abandoned it. My thoughts are The technical difficulties are with the fingerprint sensor under the display due to the OLED panel, user recognition/accuracy rates and power consumption. Also, something else I read in the past, is that screen protectors also pose an issue on top of the OLED panel not registering or having issues unlocking the device due to the fingerprint sensor under the display.

I don’t really keep any statistics on it or check out the battery section too frequently. I browse forums, stream Spotify (almost always), use Instagram, Snapchat on and off all day.

From the time I unplug my phone, work my 8 hour shift and then play around a few more hours before I get home, I usually make it back with about 16% remaining. I can’t really kill the SE battery in a day, another reason I love the phone. The screen is the primary source of battery draw, IMO. Not much of a draw on a 4 inch.

Although I got even better battery life on 10.3.3 and wish I had never upgraded.

As I see it, so far they tried unsuccessfully to implement the TouchID under the screen, so they compromised on FaceID. And as long as they using it, they'll say 'its the best and the future'... even though at this point its more of a gimmick then future...

That’s pretty good. My 6S is the same. And since 11.3 is rubbish despite the new battery app telling me it’s health is fine!
Anyway it’s good to know a small battery can last long with usage like that, using the radios is a power drain also, so WiFi cellular or Bluetooth.
My iPhone is better and smoother then my iPad Pro 9.7” which just lags and crashes and isn’t smooth what so ever! I think it’s the iPad though as we have another one in the house that works fine.

Evleaks mentioned the iPhone SE 2018 on his twitter feed. So expect it to come out this year, but the only question is when?

I don’t know that we can *expect* an SE to come out this year, it very well could be 2019, as it was conflicted that The SE would not be updated in 2018. Although It can be expected that it will be continued rumors likely up to WWDC , but I find some Of these rumors to be overly exaggerated too. (Usually the renders or fan made art recently published.)

I think it will be announced at WWDC.

I think it will be announced at WWDC.

I don’t think Apple will Announce four iPhones during the September keynote, I think if the iPhone SE is updated, it will be announced during WWDC to keep it separate. Not that it’s common for iPhones to launch during WWDC, but I also don’t think Apple is not going to allow an SE take away any spotlight from the three other iPhones being primary. Similarly how the iPhone SE was announced separately in March 2016.

I’m hoping as well.

After months with the X, I went back to the 8 and heavily prefer TouchID over FaceID. If, and that’s a big if, Apple puts a fingerprint sensor under the display, I would buy the SE 2 in a heartbeat. As it stands, I have no qualms with my 8. Enjoying the phone thouroughly.

I know you said ‘If’, but they won’t do that. Federighi already stated they experimented with that and decided not to use touch ID under the display. I think if the iPhone SE is updated, it would retain touch ID, just because of how costly the face ID module components are. But that also depends if they want to retain a similar price point to the original SE, if Apple decides to increase the price point, then its possible it _could_ include Face ID.
