ARGH! I'm sitting here on my bed, which is next to my bedroom window.

I am eyeing up every car that drives past. Hoping it might be a UPS truck or something similar.

When I hear a big engine, my heart skips a beat - then I realise it's just a 4x4 or something...

The reason for my anxiousness? My iMac is meant to be arriving today. Although one estimate has placed it at the 9th may, two others say it should be today! (2nd).

Does anyone else get this anxious, or is it just me?

Edit: just as I posted this a HUGE lorry pulled up... it didn't stay though :( :( :(

Yes... tracking sites make it so much harder. Back when you had no idea when something would arrive, it actually made waiting for it easier in some ways. Now, seeing that something is on its way, loaded and out for delivery at 6AM and then seeing the clock go by so slowly, hour after hour after hour... it's rough!

That's why I joined Amazon Prime here in the States. Free two-day shipping of anything Amazon sells directly. So I just order a $1-$2 item every day, and the truck always shows up. Takes the edge off waiting.... ;)

Heck, yeah! The roar of any engine when expecting delivery sends me running to the window to see if it is, in fact, the service with the goods!

Can you not track the order to see where it is?

The tracking's pretty unhelpful. I know that it's left Ireland and it's got its final number, which means it's on its way to me - but I have no way of tracking it other than that!

Previously I've at least been able to see if it's "out for delivery" or whatever...

We've all been there.

Good time to burn all your important stuff from your old system to CD/DVD.

CLEAN YOUR ROOM

Organize your desk.

Visit your mom

Shop for accessories and software.

Write your congressman

Mow the lawn

Weed the garden

Wash windows

Watch a movie

Check your shipment tracker for the 2000th time. :D

Write a song, a poem or a novel.

Check shipment tracker again.

Yup we've all been there.

*ehugs*

I feel your pain, my friend. :(

And you are obligated to post an OMG, My New iMac is Here!!!!1111111oneoneoneone thread when you get it now, you know. :D

With pictures.

Preferably with a picture of you shaking the delivery person's hand. ;)

hehe, good ideas!

I really should tidy my room...

Things I have noticed today:

1. A lot of people drive diesel cars now, that sound a lot like vans
2. Builders all stop working around 3pm, and they all drive white vans too... 3pm is the builder rush-hour!

Try waiting 2 months for a MacBook Pro or a Power Mac Quad...

i still think the hardest part is knowing it is on a delivery truck being sent to your house. The first 3 days after i ordered my wacom weren't difficult but once i notice it had arrived in MA i was listening for every truck on my road.

Exactly right! I didn't mind till they told me it was due today. I wish they'd lied :p

It's getting late in the day - almost 4pm, but my friend who lives round here assures me that stuff often turns up a lot later... Coming from London, most deliveries are before 12pm!

Mannn, you're telling me.

In the last 45 minutes, trucks from TNT, City Express and UPS have driven past. I keep hoping they're lost and will return, but alas :(

I don't know what carrier it's coming on, but I'm not sure how many are left now!!

How bout DHL? I'm not sure if they are big in your area or not they used to be pretty big here in California. Hope you get your package soon I'm sure waiting sucks.

My Macbook Pro is in Nuneaton england after being mis-directed by UPS. I'm pretty sure it came from Apple Cork, which is only about 6 miles from my house. It was supposed to come today but now i probably won't see it until friday :(

Previously for me, in London (I'm in Stafford right now), it's been UPS, TNT or some strange independent place operating out of Croydon - they came in a blank white van!! Crazy stuff.

I wish i knew whether it was coming today for sure or not, so I could go out or something...

I just called my sources at Apple and had them look into it.

Your iMac is not yet assembled. There was an error in the delivery tracking information, which explains the differing dates.

They expect to have it built sometime near the end of the month and expect it to be delivered to you by June 24th.

There, now that you know, you can just sit back and relax.

I would - if I thought you weren't joking :p

i hope you are

You're right. I was joking. Actually, Apple lost your order - but I figured I'd tell you that in mid June, then you could order one of the 23" iMacs scheduled to be out by that time.

I hate ordering things online for this exact reason. I am VERY impatient, and if I decide I want something, I want it on the same day! So I just go to the shop, and buy it right there.

I was so tired of waiting for my Dell display that I called UPS and went to the distribution hub and picked it up there rather than waiting another day.
I would do that if I knew who was shipping it! It's getting on my nerves!!

Yeah, waiting sucks. My Brenthaven PRO 17" Shoulder Case and Apple Mighty Mouse are supposed to arrive today... My 17" Macbook Pro, 2 GB RAM, 100 GB 7200 RPM HD (Fully Loaded :D ) & iWork pre-installed is expected to ship May 9th and not expected to arrive until the 16th... :( What a tease...
