Indeed!!

Well... umm... it's here!! = D

My housemate bought it in, cos I was still snoozin away, but as soon as I heard that door shut, I was downstairs like a flash!

Ohhhh I love it! Such a lovely system. My first iMac!

Just gutted I didn't get to shake the delivery mans hand for photo-taking purposes :(

Cheers for keeping me sane guys :)

Congrats on the new iMac! & no need to thank us, we should thank you for keeping us entertained!

Congrats mate, I'll be orderign myself an iMac fairly soon too hopefully.

The latest delivery I ever had was a few weeks ago. I had been offered a new job and the company were having problems getting the offer pack out to me so ended up sending it by a local same day courier to help get it here. I didn't know this and I guess the courier must have fallen asleep or something as the doorbell goes at 3am!!!!!!

I run downstairs preparing to **** someone (had a breakin last year) and can seen this huge coloured chap standing at the door holding a clipboard and parcel. The dude wouldn't even say what he had except "i've got something for you". Eventually made him put it through the letterbox but scared the crap out me that did.

My god... it whines. I thought this was just a small sound that might annoy you in a quiet room. But my god it's annoying. Headache inducing even. The mirror widget got rid of it but ouch like...

This is whats making me go to the iMac. I really liked the look of the MacBook Pro and having a laptop over a desktop was just a luxory for me, but having seen a Macbook Pro the other day in the first thing I noticed was the whine and my god was a warm to touch! Shame as I would have gone this way, instead though its an iMac soon for me. When I can pluck up the bottle to click that order button anyway :D

Are you sure that's not *us* whining? The MR gang can make a lot of noise.

Mmmm... I'm sorry for you and anyone else experiencing the whine issue. :( It would really, really frustrate me to get a new computer that did something like that. Macs should be seen and not heard. :p :(

Actually my Mac Mini is hidden under loads of stuff on my desk at the moment so it is neither seen nor heard but still works away like a little trooper.

I guarantee that's what would happen if I had a mac mini. Luckily my iMac literally rises above it =P

EDIT: Seems i spoke too soon, it's back just not as bad as it was :(

My god ... it has stopped whining *touch wood*. I updated the bios but that didn't stop it. I tried out the speedit program too and it seems now the noise has stopped even though speedit isn't running (i didn't kextload it). I have no idea why the whine has stopped however i will definately not complain.

love the current quietness of the macbook, was running in clamshell earlier plugged into my Dell 2005FPW and everything else. Nice quiet computer :) Not as fast as i thought it would be though :S

Now i'm waiting to have it shipped back. Good thing i called today as i got it on the 4th and i thought i got it on the 5th. Lovely laptop, but the whine... no way i'm going to keep something that whines so much. I made a specific note that that was the reason i was returning it.

I'm off to order a 17" iMac to go with my 20" Dell. Too bad it will be slower than the MacBook Pro while it was running. Would love the 20" iMac specs in the 17" version. But two 20" screens is way too much and i need my Dell.

Might get a MacBook if things turn out to be quiet. Almost just as fast as the Pro just with no graphics card and longer battery life.
