I'm interested in what Apple has to say about iPhoneOS 4.0 but I probably won't realistically buy an iPad until the 2nd generation is released. Yep, I'll be waiting a while. :D

Apple wouldn't be foolish enough to show anything about OS 4 that puts any of their devices in a bad light.

Realistically they are probably showing this off to actually spur even more adoption of iPads in the near future to blunt attacks from various android pads, the HP slate, etc.

In all likelihood they will be showing off their multi-tasking support for 3rd party apps and letting developers know what they need to do to make them work right in iPhone OS 4.0.

If they do bring multi-tasking with iPhone OS 4.0 it will be a big, big deal and shut off quite a bit of the criticism that people have about the iPad...

They will almost definitely make this a free upgrade for all iPad owners which will possibly get some more fence sitters to take the plunge and buy an iPad.

Well since the iPhone and iPad are NOT interchangeable devices, I'd say you are confused. The iPhone will have a hardware update this summer. The iPad will not have a hardware update for the near future. One is a phone. The other is...well, an iPad. If you need a phone, get an iPhone.

Me? BOTH! :D

Mark

Why not both? That's what I'm doing.

I already own the 32GB 3GS but I like to upgrade every time. Sell old iPhone put $$$ towards new iPhone! Perfect. Its a money thing not confusion.

Paypal me some MONEY so I can keep up with the game Mark and Andyblila :D

So the 4.0 update is for touch pad and the iphone , just because people keep referring to the 4.0 update to the iphone rather than the rest . So for someone with a ipad what are the big differences

A cool way to multitask on the iPad would be if you could pinch to zoom far out of an app and it would snap to show the running apps underneath which could then be pinched open to view and use them. I see this as being very fluid and easy to use, much more so than holding down the home button or whatever. It could probably work on the iPhone too, maybe we will see this on Thursday with the update.
