A baker's dozen ellipses do not a good argument make.

I don't know if I'm the only one who hold this opinion, but personally, I believe that MacRumors ISN'T a place where you can just throw out anything that you could possibly want to happen as a rumor.

No, I believe that "rumor" is defined as hints from respected sources as to the future of Apple products, something that we have seen (either from a manufacturer or other company) that we know could go into a future Apple product, as well as speculation based in hard, provable FACT about future Apple products.

All these things are valid to be called rumors.

Things that cannot be called rumors, and should therefore be forced to be relegated to threads with "What if..." or "xMac" in the title, are:

This thread, and all those that are similarly versed.
Pictures, until authenticity is confirmed. For some pictures, this comes quickly (such as those of the unibody MacBook family), at which point they become valid rumor. Others, such as the craptacular new Mac Mini, have very, very little grounds to be true, so they are currently not a rumor.

I 100% agree with you. You can't just pull out rumors from nowhere, especially now when there are lots of "hot" rumors around. We can always speculate about next HW but it doesn't need own thread.

We should have a rule that says you have to have some back up in your rumor (picture, very good source of info, web site etc.)

guess it´s not a "real" rumor, but as long as people keep the "new iMac" subject hot in the forums, that helps my waiting process at least ;)

So I hope you are right arlung, my money is ready :)

That's basically my definition of "rumor" (although the last point I usually regard as informed speculation) too.

Why is it that every thread proclaiming that the PowerBook G5 is coming tomorrow is written in extremely poor English? If the news really is so big, don't you at least have the time and decency to communicate the news clearly?

it is quite apparent that the op is just having u all on, he doesn't have a mate who works in a store that sells apple products, and he claims if he told us his friend would lose him job! yeah highly doubt that considering who is to know where he works or his name like anyone cares

this threads falls under the category :: Complete and Utter Fail thread# 4878

djcorrosive, I think it is pretty far fetched but it is yet another of these little rumours which all bottle up together and scream through the internet one single message:
"Erm Hi I'm the internet and there is an erm ... iMac coming soon. A new shiny one. Oooo."
Excuse the internets confusion ... there are a lot of people out there who hurt it with false, incorrect and unreadable messages ...

Yeah my JB is on their last stock too. That's a bit weird of JB to say they have no deals on Macs until the next catalogue though... they always have something. I'm not gonna read anything into it though.

However, DickSmith PowerHouse has had all iMacs 10% in the last couple of weeks and no one ever discounts Macs around here!!

Also, my Mom said that they'll be out in two weeks and I believe her before the op's friend... haha I had to put that.

I'm probably gonna get mine at JB and try and get them to throw a power surge protector, G15 keyboard and MX Revolution :p

My friend is buying a $2600 TV from them and they gave her an entertainment unit worth 300, a surge protector worth 200, and a sound system worth 260... but she did have to flirt with the guy a bit I think. I don't know if I'm prepared to do that...
