iPhone 3G is not unlockable and hence you won't be able to use it with T-Mobile.

Also iPhone 3G uses the UMTS (3G) GSM 850/1900/2100 Mhz bands to connect. T-Mobile in the US is UMTS 1700Mhz. Not compatible... you will only get EDGE network.

Using a TURBO-SIM like approach for the 3G is considered very illegal in most countries since the methodology it uses to connect to the cell networks is very illegal itself. The iPhone Dev Team has recommended not to use that method.

Yes it is and i have a program that will unlock the 3G...i just dont have one but it unlocks both 2G and 3G.

I see unlocked 3G's all over the internet for sale(ebay, craigslist)

Maybe you use the official Apple unlock, but a DYI unlock like that of the Dev Team is not available yet.

If you did do an unlock via this method you'd better email the iPhone Dev Team and throw them a hand.

So, once again, iPhone 3G is not unlockable besides Apple. Do not trust xSIM sellers (turbo Sim or any other SIM name). These are illegal in the way they unlock the iPhone 3G.

NOT ILLEGAL

It is illegal. In the old 1st Gen iPhone it was legal, but in the new 3G iPhone it is illegal because of the way the xSIM tricks the iPhone into connecting.

Zf_ from the iPhone Dev Team did research and found that. It is very, but very border line illegal in many places in Europe and he concluded most definitely illegal en the US.

Try it if you want, I can't and won't stop you, but its a warning I must give.

No i dont use an Apple unlock. I got some software called autoiphoneunlocker and it has the pwnage tools and quickpwn for both the 2G and 3G up to firmware 2.1.
I used that to unlock and jailbreak my 2G and i dont have a 3G but it is there to use if i ever get one. I do not plan to get one tho because it seems to me that the 2G is much more stable and i dont really need GPS.
I like the looks of the 3G better but i use a case anyways and they just arent much different since i dont use the 3G network and have t-Mobile with the $5.99 internet.

Pwnage and QuickPwn DO NOT unlock iPhone 3G, it has been repeated many times.

Unlocking is only available for 1st Gen iPhone users.
