Indeed, WoW pre-BC is a lot more hardcore than the current TBC. I quit (it's frustrating to play it causally) for a year before coming back into TBC and was surprised that I could do a lot more with the limited playing time.

You guys are having a bad influence on me. Now I'm considering getting back into WoW, specifically TBC on a casual basis. Thanks for all the input. :)

World of Warcraft and Hardcore are two phrases that should never be in the same sentence :).

Warhammer is fun. If you do the normal "get quests, kill monsters, turn in quests" you will get bored, but if you queue up for scenarios nonstop and do minor questing during the few minutes between scenarios, you'll be having a great time.

The RvR scenarios are fun as hell, the pvp is a lot of fun, and I've never really played much PvP (always did PvE servers, etc). I always liked DAOC where the pvp was optional on most servers. It's like that here, but as the game progresses you get pushed more and more into RvR, but it's much nicer and accessible to people that aren't big fans of PvP ganking (my impression of PvP servers in WoW, AoC, etc).

Oh right that's what I forgot to mention. In WAR, you're not "rushed" to get to the highest level possible. WoW is pretty much about leveling, then raids.. there's not much in the middle that you can really just sit back and enjoy. You can take your time in WAR because getting the highest possible level is not that important. Your level will be bolstered up in RVR scenarios, the only thing you're missing is the gear that the higher players may have and the abilities.. but you can still help out and won't be useless to your group. The PQs are fun and they require a bit of teamwork, especially in later stages.

But the point is you can take your time leveling and you can enjoy the game. I picked up the game a few days ago (even though I pre-ordered it months in advance) and I'm still Level 6, I feel no rush and at Level 6 I can enjoy PVP and do actually quite well. I picked up the game for PVP and I'm finding myself doing more PQs than anything. This is great because I don't have the time to sit there and grind for hours. But right now it seems like I can enjoy the game from the beginning and I don't feel like I'm missing much of the game's content.

You can play WAR.... unlike WoW, where it plays YOU!

Regarding WoW, that sounds about right. :) I started a WoW thread, about restarting it and although I think it would be a blast to go back and do all the classic 5 player instances, I'm really wondering if you could even find players in the zone to form a party.

I did Battle Grounds (PVP) my first time through WoW and although it was fun, it got old. That is why I'm hesitant about WAR.
