Since it’s been a month, I decided to check the status of my $200 rebate using the Tracking ID supplied by T-Mobile. To my horror, the webpage showed by status as “Denied. No eligible device purchased.” This felt almost like a gut-punch as paid a high price for this 1TB iPad Pro! Then I noticed the tracking ID was NOT the one I had entered. WTF?

I called T-mobile, and after being transferred to the promotions department I reached a nice young woman who kept me on hold for several minutes looking into the situation. When she returned she told me she had resubmitted my entry (now dated today — a month later than I originally submitted), and that I would be receiving my rebate e-gift card within 15-30 days. (I’m really hoping it’s closer to 15 so I don’t get billed for a 3rd month at $30!).

If any of you who signed-up for this promotion haven’t checked your status yet, do so RIGHT NOW! The promotion ends June 27, and you don’t want to be locked out of your rebate because you didn’t find out something “went wrong” until AFTER the deadline!

Good reminder to people to definitely check. I have had to submit mine multiple times (third time they said it is OK) as each time they said "we can't read the proof of purchase" or whatnot. When I took and uploaded screenshots from my iPad. How an image isn't viewable in their system? No idea.

But I've been in "received" status since 6/5 now and I'm tracking it once a week to see if it moves. Hoping I won't get hit up for another $30 payment as well.

So you’re getting a lump sum credit? I thought it was in increments, so people don’t just cancel afterwards like you both seem to be planning on doing.

The T-Mobile/Sprint offer description states it’s a $200 Mastercard. I can’t imagine how or why it would do that in increments.

T-Mobile is the only carrier offering the rebate without a requirement you keep the service connected.

A strong statement of how well they feel they can compete with AT&T and Verizon. No need to strangle hold you in...

Although, I will cancel my line I'm a T-Mobile customer so the extra line is redundant when I have 40GB of 5G tethering at no charge in my current plan. In the rare times I would use cellular on my iPad outside my home tethering is more than enough.

Wow, that’s cool of them. They really are confident to give away that much money, only asking you to keep service for a couple months. I guess you’d just be buying cellular for the built-in GPS, though?

I was going to buy WiFi only since I went cellular on my last iPad that I had for 7 years. I used the cell connection maybe once or twice in that 7 years. I added it this time though since it would be effectively $30 to do so after the rebate. At that point. Might as well.

Yep, you can always reactivate it in the future. It’s nice to have the option, especially since this is the first 5G iPad.

I had the same problem. They said it was because the SKU number wasn't on the apple receipt and I explained that's how the Apple receipt comes. After being on hold a few times for about 5-10 minutes - they took care of it and it now shows Received and I should be getting the gift card in a few weeks.

I use T-Mobile and I am overall satisfied, but their promotions system is just bad. Getting the discount I was promised for transferring two new lines and trading-in two devices was a nightmare. Hours on the phone, nearly a dozen calls, over the course of weeks until finally they delivered.

My status is still "received"... nothing at all. Last time I submitted the iPhone 12 pro the same day as my friend. He got his approved within a few days. After about a month, I reached out to them and had to wait for like 15 mins to talk to a person. After the useless chat, she reassured me it would be under review still. A month or so later, I finally checked the status and it was denied. I had to spend a lot of time to get the case resolved. It makes me feel like this might happen again....

My Verizon status is still showing as “Pending Validation.” Joke of a process really, but I wouldn't expect anything less.

Hmm, this is rather interesting. Was not aware of this deal with T-Mobile.
As a matter of fact, just last week ATT send all the members on our account a text message stating that, "We are giving you 5G free".

Curious how long this 'free' will actually be for...

Mine says received too but I haven't gotten the virtual gift card. Wonder how long it takes to send it.... This is for T-Mobile

TMO knows a lot of people are going to cancel once getting their rebate, so making it difficult to qualify will weed out the easily discouraged.

Did you add the iPad to your existing phone plan, or sign up as standalone mobile Internet plan?

I'm already a TMO phone customer, and they require you to get a new iPad phone number and plan, which they add to your monthly bill.
Not sure if you already have a 10gb iPad plan if that qualifies.

What is the minimum plan that T-mobile offers will qualify for this rebate? Very interested if only need to sign up for 1-2 month or a cheap plan.

Well i checked before and all it says is the plan must be 10GB or greater, and I can't find any exact pricing information which is probably done on purpose.
It depends on whether you'd be adding the plan to an existing voice line account. The pricing can be found on tmobile.com by searching for "tablet data plans." I have a voice line and added an unlimited Magenta tablet plan that was $80/month discounted with auto pay to $20/month. But there are many other options too.
