Suppliers are known to have a low yield rate:
This means the assembly process/QC there is inferior to the setup in China, it's basically like buying a Camry made by Tesla vs a Camry made by Toyota

iPhones are not made in Tata’s facilities which the article mentioned. As the trial runs showed problems, Tata bought Wistron out. Since 2019 Foxcon assembles in their factories in India. No issues were reported either. I don’t think that Apple or India would like to send out iPhones with lower quality into the market.

So there are a lot of Warnings this year.

#1. Don’t be fooled by the new USB-C port.
#2. Which phones are gonna be Made in India ?
#3. 1st gen 3nm chips there will be a lot of defective devices
#4. No WiFi 7
#5. Next year ProMAX will deliver a 6.9” display

Excellent, a whole set of random hot air bubbles. Because your 2017 iPad headphones prediction needs an even more unrealistic 2023 variant, I assume.

I do a lot of business with china and India. I prefer India. Better quality. Better service. You do realize India is becoming a hub for manufacturing for USA right?

Hopefully they’ll restrict them to India and other third world markets. Also give customers elsewhere an option to order Made in India phones if they so wish.

Im not worried about a iPhone made in India apples QC is pretty good, they wouldn’t let the factory produce parts if they were not up to par.

So many dumdums.

Low yield doesn’t mean the quality of the product on shelves is lower. It means a higher percentage failed QC before making it to the shelves. Its a problem for Apple’s margins, not for the end user.

And, I don’t believe a single Pro is being made in India. And only a fraction of the normal 15?

My predictions for this forum September 23rd-30th.
  • Hundreds of people trying to determine where their phone was made.
  • Hundreds more scrutinizing the manufacturer of components like the screen or the battery
  • Hundreds staring at the screen and comparing the shades of blue/yellow with previous years.
  • Hundreds obsessing over some imperceptible imperfections
  • Hundreds of folks returning their phone 1,2,3,4 times over the above.

So just like every other iPhone launch.

Makes sense to me that Apple would entrust their flagship models to China and
slowly assimilate India into their network of manufacturing.

It needs to happen and wish them good luck... since tensions with China are only
going to go one way: UP.

thank you so much, I have been waiting 10 years to upgrade because I keep hearing next years phone will be even better. I guess I can wait another year

China has at least 10 years of making iPhone experience, Indian has none. Making iPhone is a very complicated process involves so many factories of all kinds, good luck with Indian lab testing iPhone.

I’m pretty sure the same company doing the assembly in India is the exact same company doing assembly in China. They’ve just expanded locations for geopolitical reasons.

It also involves many other smaller companies to provide components and materials. Also the Chinese workers had 10 experience, Indian workers has none. Good luck with your Indian iPhone. Yeah same Foxconn, but also the Chinese managers with 10 years experience are not the Indian managers with none experience.

The iphone 15 release will be a good indicator with the new manufacturing location to see how it fares, quality wise, till next September. I doubt maybe 100% of all iphone 15s will be manufactured in one place, so maybe China is still doing a percentage of them etc splitting them between the 2 countries. just a thought.
