Do you do anything other than complain? I mean, do you have a family or a job or something else you do besides read about te iPad and complain about everything? If you are just so displayed and upset about all the terrible iPad flaws maybe you should get hobby that doesn't involve reading the iPad section of MacRumors.

I really wish that ignoring someone also hid other people quoting them and not just the original comment...

I noticed the same thing. He seems very interested in dramatizing anything he can.

Details.

I was in SC, sunny Around 78 deg.

Left on a table in black (ya, I know) (pl)leather sleeve for 10-15 min.

Used for another 10-15 in direct sunlight before shutdown.

It was pretty warm to the touch when my son handed it back to me.

The glass seemed to absorb a fair amount of heat.

I don't buy it for some reason.

You don't believe that the iPad (which runs the same OS and similar hardware to the iPhone where it is well known that this occurs when left in similar environmental conditions) could possibly display the same message?

Skeptical much?

From what you described it sounds reasonable that it overheated. Besides cooking it from the outside remember that it generates heat while in use.

Environmental requirements
  • Operating temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
  • Nonoperating temperature: -4° to 113° F (-20° to 45° C)
  • Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
  • Maximum
  • operating altitude: 10,000 feet (3000 m)

so you complaining about ME which is totally off-topic is fine? I've been on-topic in this thread, buster. lighten up.

Seem people just like to complain. I would guess your iPad would get to get 150+ degrees F in no time just sitting in the sun, not even turned on! That is hardly a defect. If Apple would have put an exhaust fan in the iPad some idiots would complain about the noise and how long the battery lasts.

I am tickled with my iPad and find it entertaining to listen to the whiners!

Surprised no one has dropped their in the toilet yet but then it is early!

If operating temp stops at 95 degrees, and it was 78 degrees outside at the time, I don't doubt that the iPad in a case facing up would get (too) hot in the sun. The glass is nearly black. It forms a greenhouse essentially. The aluminum body is supposed to dissipate any internal heat, but was prevented from doing that since it was in a case.

I'm not commenting on your ability to be "on or off topic". I'm talking about the literally hundreds of posts you've made in the sub-forum about how terrible the iPad is. It's getting old. I'm beginning to suspect you are a paid astroturfer or something because it seems to be the only thing you do on MacRumors.

In the four months before the iPad announcement you made less than twenty posts. You've made over 650 in the three months since then, and most of them are either in the iPad subforum or about the iPad.

There are plenty of legitimate complaints one could have about the iPad. You've made pretty much all of them already. Twice. Why do you care so much? What about coming here and complaining about something we all know you don't like makes you so happy? I appreciate that you have an opinion, but at some point this just seems like a monumental waste of your time.

And I wish there is a switch for ignoring stupid fanbois. But alas, neither one of us are going to get our wish.

Why is it that we can't have an normal discussion about the awesomeness AND the pitfalls/shortcomings of the iPad without people going nuts one way or the other?

Well, there IS an ignore list. The problem with this particular troll is that he's so freakin' prolific he gets quoted a lot, which defeats the ignore list.

(Click on a person's name, view profile, "Add to ignore list", be sure to save changes.)

(And since we're doing the weather roundup, it's in the 90s here in NC this week.)
