Ultra2 - 11.0.1 - Lost only 2% during a 1hr15 run yesterday...which followed up on being at 97% after tracking a 23minute parkrun and a roughly 45minute walk on Saturday morning.

Using my standard settings, native Workout app, AOD off (raise to wake on, which works good for me), background app refresh off, Fitness focus that blocks everything bar a few emergency contacts.

Seem to drop ~20% per 24hrs with non activity tracking.

That is pretty damn good - my Ultra 1 has been doing better since the .0.1 update and even though not superb, it's way better. 24 hours is just below 50% for my without workout - did a 1 hour run this morning (always on display, everything on and 4G on but no music though) and it was around 13% for that hour - that's pretty good. Would last me a 84K ultra run - and I'm not doing that any time soon :D

Actually, probably worth adding I don't have a mobile plan activated on my watch - which is potentially a big difference.

I was also having battery issues so I decided to try and eliminate apps to see if one of them was causing the drain. I deleted the Steps app and Lumi and my watch battery is now absolutely stellar. I took it off the charger at 5am this morning, did a 90 minute workout, and my battery is now at 95% at almost 1pm.

Managed to hit 32 hours (nothing disabled) including two nights of sleep tracking and a 30 minute LTE run with streamed (not downloaded; low power mode while working out is enabled but the music was streamed so LTE was on the entire run) music to my AirPods. The rest of the day was relatively low key but first time in a while I could get this far on a non Ultra. S10 46mm.

I have an S8 watch, never needed to worry about battery level until watch OS 11. I have pretty much tracked it down to the workout app. If I am using the workout app like when I am playing golf (I walk the course when playing), it drains very fast and I end up in the red by the end of about 12 hours of total use (workout is usually between 4 and 4.5 hours). If no workout that day, I end up with about 50% left by end of day. I wonder if it has something to do with the workout constantly monitoring heart rate and showing updated time in the workout. I notice the time updates constantly which I am not sure I remember and certainly makes no sense when you are talking about an activity that lasts for hours. Once a minute would be more than enough for that sort of activity.

BTW this big usage still occurred with 11.1 so it is not fixed. I also turned off live activities on the watch since I saw speculation that it was part of the problem.

Definitely having issues on my S10, lost 22% sleep tracking 6.5 hours last night, Previously was <10%. I’ve repaired and set up as new, losing my mind. My Ultra 2 seems to be behaving fine.

I haven't tested it yet but someone on reddit was mentioning turning off daylight tracking helped their battery life in watchos 11/11.1 for their Series 9

This is where the setting is
  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch
  2. Go to Privacy & Security
  3. Select Health
  4. Tap Time in Daylight
  5. Turn off Time in Daylight

Thanks, I'll try that. I didn't know that is tracked. Reading the post I actually thought "time in daylight" meant displaying the time during daylight hours. Duh.

I tried the recommendation of stbrown, turning off daytime detection. I did not notice any change in battery life on my S8.
