Samsung, running out of ideas when they're not making fun of Apple or copying them.

Hah Samsung running out of ideas? I guess that's why Apple copies Android with iOS 7 and the iPhone's screen is still the size of a postage (large) postage stamp? I guess that's why iOS got panoramic mode after Android had it. Need I go on?

You say they make fun of Apple...Do you remember when Apple made fun of PCs with their "I'm a Mac. I'm a PC" ads? Companies make fun of each other! Good figure!

Try harder.

Nothing beats the horrible Galaxy S4 product announcement.

Odd, but different. At least Samsung is willing to try new things instead of the same old stuff year after year.

I wonder if this kind of advert would go down well in Asia, or if it would be cringe worthy there too.

Yea sexism, misogyny and tone deafness with the millennials is a great thing to strive for.

Seriously, I watched the keynote in disbelief. Apparently Samsung thinks their user base are heavy drinking bored upper class housewives.

It was cliche. Most ads during this time of the year take place on a ski place, with some guys on the slope, and the thing that takes you across in the sky.

And it's unrealistic. You're not going to give your number out loud to someone in the middle of other people, especially when it's next to a guy you have no interest in.

Nor are you going to hear your phone at a party where everyone's dancing. Do you know how LOUD the music gets at big parties?

Another thing. This guy is too busy checking out this girl, instead of actually enjoying the skiing trip. The kid in the iPhone video was taking video of his family at Christmas, but all this guy is following this girl around with a watch AND phone.

Samsung got us talking, but it doesn't do anything to convince people to buy the watch. It just shows that it's another wasteful product to waste your time with.

People will easily forget the ad by next year.

The ad has around 1.5 million views, its clearly created buzz on the internet, I suspect thats the aim of these ads. I've noticed that the Ad company for Samsung often make over long cheesy ads which are markedly different from their shorter more straight to the point and punchy ads.

The longer ads seem to create a talking point which is usually followed up by more straight to the point ads once a product is in the public consciousness.

I'd say its a very interesting and clever practice and clearly works.

Bingo! We have a winner folks!

But you gotta love how people credit Samsung's Ads for its success but at the same time bash the Ads. So either the Ads are a success or they're not. Can't have it both ways.

I didn't think it was that bad actually.

I was entertained and it showed what the Gear is capable of...in theory.

The GS4 reveal...now that was bad. Like really bad.

The Galaxy Gear has the highest return rate of any product at Best Buy if memory serves.

I work for best buy we had like 5 or 6 open box and like two new in box if that means anything. My gm bought one and returned it a week latter.

I wish I could say this is a new low, but it's not for Samsung.

Cell phones are not sexy. Neither is the gear. Functional, useful, convenient, yeah. But using the sex sells tactic for a freaking phone? Oh baby, your 5 inch screen has me all hot and bothered. I want to check your notifications on my smartwatch. Oh yeah, oh baby, oh zzzzzzzz

Of course there is an Ad agency involved.

The difference is, when Jobs wanted the "Think Different" campaign, the Ad agency came back and said "Think Different" is grammatically incorrect! but Jobs insisted "Think Different" reflects more accurately what he was going for - Issacson's book.

Jobs had direct input in advertising, attending the weekly WIPs.

Please go on! I guess you didn't read the article about how Android OS has to be start over from scratch after seeing iphone demo. Do please go on.
And some people still prefer smaller screen that actually fit in pants. Sorry Samdung fanboys, still no one is buying the watch, probably because there's no such device for Samsung to copy from Apple.

Nobody's saying Apple didn't catch Google offguard with the iPhone in 2007 because it did and it's the only reason Android became what it is today. tech4all was simply pointing out how Apple has been playing "catch-up" since then and has stuck to their old stubbon ways of not following the latest trends (larger phones), albeit in a biased manner. Besides, he pointed out things that happened recently while your argument was to refer back to an event six years ago. Lots of things have changed.

So by no-one, what about the 800,000 people which had purchased the Galaxy Gear by the 19th November?

Im guessing it was such a flop, thats why Samsung are currently working on the Galaxy Gear 2. Oh, that will make it two smart watches released before Apple even releases one!

Oh, why use the childish "samdung" remarks? It does nothing for your credibility and makes you look like a child unable of having an adult discussion.

No need, this forum is filled with benefits of Android over iOS. Apple did a great job in 2007 through 2009 but has since lost ground every year since. Starting off great is one thing but to not continue with the momentum is another.

Sure and with Android people have choices of smaller screens. Unfortunately Apple fans have no real choice.

Early birds do get the worms but the second mouse gets the cheese. Apple is still wondering who moved their cheese. At least they enjoyed worm they got though.

800k ? Geez that seems a lot lower than I had originally thought. You must be delusional if you think that amount is a success. So what they're making another one it doesn't mean it's successful. Ask around. Original Xbox wasn't successful. Samsung has a lot of money to burn just to make a crappy device. Please come up with better excuse next time.

Wow Apple must be struggling now. What to do with millions of iphone sold since 2009. You're making no sense.

On your first point, a 33% return rate (BestBuy) is a marketers worst nightmare.

On the second, a $900 million loss on the Surface RT by MS didn't prevent them from making a second version. You clearly have no understanding of development and manufacturing momentum. No one creates a product that is updated yearly and isn't hard at work on the revision because there is simply no time to rest in that kind of product cycle.
