I have to agree with billinaz. There's really not much you can do now. You've tried your best to let the owner find it and haven't gotten a response.

On another note, it's nice to see that our world doesn't completely suck and there are still honest people out there. I wish I could shake your hand OP.

They claim??? You do realize how silly you sound, right? While I believe you, Apple has no way of confirming your story and they certainly aren't going to risk a lawsuit giving away someone's personal info. Most would rather lose their iPad than have Apple give out their info over the phone to some dude claiming to have found an iPad, don't you think?

The passcode is there to specifically prevent you from getting in. Despite your good intentions, it'd be rather pointless if it was so easy or even possible to get around it, so I doubt you'll find a solution.
Is there any particular reason your comment reads so hostile. There is very little human decency in this world anymore and here we have one person trying to do good and here you come with your false sense of superiority just being rude because you don't know the answer. Instead of being any kind of helpful you're just a dick. Why? Does it feel good? Is it entertaining? Is it to maintain your "I am so smart" complex? Did you happen to know that if you hold down the home button for siri and ask her who it belongs to she will give you the name AND contact for the owner or do you troll these threads looking for people who may not be tech savvy to talk down to??

Did Siri do that in 2012? Did Siri even exist then? 7 years ago? Because that's how old the comment you're replying to is. You might want to ask yourself the same question. Does it feel good?

Hell yes it did considering Siri was introduced in 2011. As long as you have your contact info saved I to your phone like most people do she can do that. Try checking facts before you make yourself look foolish. It’s a simple search for when Siri was introduced. October 4 2011. So yes. It feels amazing

The point is you are bumping a nearly 7-year-old thread.

The point is why are you answering a 7 year old thread? Even if you are "right" in your comment.

I think the bigger question is who the **** cares lol. Why does it bother you so much? I originally came on here in search for something and stumbled upon the comment and it bothered me. I get that to you, it may seem pointless or whatever, but like you got so bothered by my replying to an old post you felt the need to also comment on an old post about it, I felt the need to call someone out for being unnecessarily nasty to a complete stranger not unlike all of you are being to me. Either way, the point is, you don’t have to make someone feel stupid or be an ******* because they don’t know something you do. Isn’t the point of this to help people who ask for it? If he couldn’t help he shouldn’t have commented. But he did to be rude. It bothers me when people are ugly to each other. That’s a good thing not to like. You’re bothered because someone you don’t know replied to someone’s online comment. Remind me again what’s really pointless here...

The WheelMan that you are replying to hasn’t been around for over a year so I don’t think he knows that you’re responding to him to answer you. Making your response mute.

I'm not going to get into semantics over my use of the word "claim" but my request was actually not that they release the info to me, but that they contact them and supply my contact info. You bring up valid points.

This is an old thread but for those that might run into it looking for similar advice.

They have no way of knowing if the person listed is the current owner, if there is any information. For the stores to have that the device generally has to have received service at some point. Even going off the receipt isn’t a promise cause many folks give away or resell their devices.

If you want to give it to someone take it to the local police. Otherwise you can leave it plugged in and see if someone turns up or toss it in the trash.
