TWC finally has some competition for best free weather app!

AccuWeather.com app now available in app store.

After playing around with it for a bit, it definitely has the potential to be better than TWC. It has many great features; great animation, something called "risk" (which tells of risk for rain, snow, wind, etc. VERY awesome), weather alarms (which I don't quite know what it does yet), animated radar, a "feels like" temp, and the ability to change anything from standard to metric.

The cons are that it is a bit buggy right now. I kept getting error messages, especially when using the GPS function. Also, while having an animated radar, it is a very rudimentary map. The map is not pretty like Google Maps or the one in TWC. You can't zoom or pan on the map either.

Like TWC, it also has video weather forecasts (national and local) and advertisements. The ads in AccuWeather seem more intrusive and have nothing to do with the weather (dumb ads like "find out what he's thinking!").

In all, a very beautifully done app. I will leave it on my iPhone in addition to TWC, but will eagerly await further updates (especially to the radar portion).

OMG, I was wondering when this was going to be released, or even made.

OMG, I was wondering when this was going to be released, or even made.

It's really sweet.

Other stuff I noticed; it splits the 5 day forecast into day or night (by clicking the sun or moon icon), the hourly forecast is only for about 5 hours into the future (not 12, like TWC), there are other types of videos in the video section besides weather, and the radar still is no-frills.

2.0 update released:

in-motion radar maps
traffic cams (select markets)
snapshots of saved locations
easier to delete and name locations
improved graphics
international radar and clouds

desktop weather app?

OK I'm looking for a desktop weather app which when you load it the home city is set to somewhere in the Netherlands or Germany. You can set it to where when there's a change in wind speed, temperature, or whatever it will flash a little icon on top of whatever you're going (browsing, etc) and even announce it in voice if you wish. I had to wipe my hard drive clean tonight and now I can't find this application anywhere!!!! Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
