I have a M1 Mini and a Logitech C920 and it works without a hitch.

EDIT:// I also have Logitech camera settings, it runs under rosetta but works. Only thing is that it doesn’t save the settings between uses of the camera so I have to launch the app and make needed settings with every use. To me that isn’t a big deal.

Please define doesn't work. I too have a M1 Mac mini and am in the same boat as you. That is, I want to find a webcam that works for my mini too. But it would be very helpful to know exactly what doesn't work. For example, I have heard from multiple sources that their supplied software doesn't work. Thus, even if the webcam works, it cannot be fine tuned with their software. Thanks in advance!
I have a Logi Streamcam. Logi Camera Settings works fine so can set widescreen, 50/60Hz flicker, zoom/pan and other controls (Rosetta). Logi Capture doesn't work at all and is definitely not M1 compatible as yet. Sadly most settings aren't sticky though and need to reset them after rebooting which is annoying. OBS "seems" to work fine but haven't used it in anger. I took a punt on it and it works fine.

I have an older Logitech camera, the C615, and it also works perfectly with macOS, including on the M1. I know from probing it that most resolutions over 640x480 at decent refresh rates require receiving the video in Motion JPEG format. Maybe yours is one of those H.264 models? But that should also be supported.

Hi.

Can anyone please suggest a good HD webcam that works with M1 and BigSur?

I've got a Logitech 922 but it doesn't work (even though the website says it does!) and I've no idea when there's to be a fix (or if there ever will be!).

So who's using webcams with a MacMini M1 and BigSur, and what is it please?

Thanks
My c922 pro works fine in FaceTime, zoom and teams

I have one of the cheapest, most rubbish webcams from ebay that I use with my work (Linux) laptop for Teams calls. It's plugged into a USB-3 port on my monitor. I just connected my M1 Air to the monitor using USB-C. It detected the webcam, which worked perfectly.

If you want to go in a slightly different direction, I've had awesome experiences across the pandemic with using a super cheap ($20) video capture card to convert HDMI out to USB in. Just tested it on my new M1 Mini and works like a charm.

With that, you can turn a camcorder (just tested it with a Panasonic HC V770) or a DSLR/Mirrorless into a webcam with full 1080 support (I think only at 30FPS tho). I tried to use the Nikon pair app previously and it looked like trash compared to what I've gotten out of these cheap little cards. Plus I've been using them for over a year now with nary a failure.

I believe that the issue is the M1 chip. I purchased a Logitech C922 and downloaded the Capture software from Logitech but it would not install. If other people have had success, I believe they have the Mac mini with the Intel chip. But I just had success with a free app, webcam Effects! At least it found my camera. I will see how well it works.

I also have the Logitech Streamcam. I haven't tried out Logitech software yet, as I usually dislike all that extra 3rd party software that makes a system look like it's Windows. Just plugged it in and it works, including the mic.

Logitech c930 worked out of the box for me with no additional drivers… but lost my ability to control it eg zooming in using Logitech software.

Didn’t install any software. Just plugged it in and it worked perfectly with FaceTime, zoom, photo booth and Skype.

I've used a few Logitechs with an M1 Mini, all without any issues (and no drivers) in FaceTime, Zoom and Teams.
