Hi everyone,
I just picked up a 27" C2D iMac. So far so good, no visible yellow tint. It's a week 53 build according to the serial number. I had returned a 21.5" C2D iMac (week 51 build) because of the slight yellowish tint on bottom right. It really wasn't that bad, no flickering or lines or dead pixels, but I was within my 14days so decided to go for the 27". I will check it out some more. Hopefully its all good. These were purchased at Best Buy in NJ. I may be picking up another 27" C2D iMac and a 15" MBP for the wife after the apple event on Jan 26 or 27th depending on whether the MBP's will be receiving an update sometime soon. To be honest, I never really liked the all-in-ones, but these iMacs are quite stunning and fairly affordable for the size. I had previously purchased the 23" cinema display when it came out and the 30" cinema displays which were so expensive. I loved the screen sizes. I ended up selling the 23" to get the 30" and eventually sold the 30" cuz it was getting too hot (heat radiated to my face) and gave me headaches. I mostly run windows so I will be running win7 thru bootcamp. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience with you guys for those who may or may not be worried about pulling the trigger on the 27" C2D.

Regards,
CC

Did you see it? I'm afraid I can see it, but if you dont see it, keep it.

So what do you make of the background of the picture?

Could hardly be yellower could it? The room is bathed in tungsten lighting, making everything that's white look to the camera like the color of a roasted canary.

Did you not see it? I'm afraid I can see it, but if you don't see it...

BEWARE: Judging by many of Sir Cecil's posts, it appears he may work for Apple and is distributing some FOD.

Take what he states with a grain of salt.

Apple DOES have moles here.

Thats funny. I'm sure Apple has people they pay to spend their time writing pro-Apple posts on web forums...because you know its not like enough people already like their products...

A shame too that the aluminum stand of the iMac in the photo is also a strong yellow. On this "evidence", you could start an iMac yellow metal thread too.

Here you go again? Like I told you in another thread that stop making thread worse by talking ill of anyone. Be mature already and learn what the good manner is. He asked me if I could see the yellow tinge on his screen and I answered " I'm afraid I can see it"

That's what he needs to know right? He does not need this "A shame too that the aluminum stand of the iMac in the photo is also a strong yellow. On this "evidence", you could start an iMac yellow metal thread too" Your statements are completely useless to his question. If you are not helping him, dont make things worse

Moreover, accoriding to his posts on another thread, he seems to acknowledge that his screen has the yellow tinge issue. So, are you implying that you dont see it?

If you say yes, I can assure you that your iMac (the one you keep telling us that has no yellow tinge) has definitely the yellow issue. Why? if you dont see the yellow tinge on Dino1956's screen, yours probably has the yellow tinge as well but for some reasons you could not see it (or pretend not to see it)

That might be the reason why you refused to post your (perfect) screen's pictures.

Anyway, stop doing immature things and let the all the threads go on smoothly.

You see a yellow tinge in his photo – in a photo, where EVERYTHING has a yellow tinge, whether on-screen or not. No-one is questioning whether you see a yellow tinge, because it's impossible not to see it in a photo where EVERYTHING in view is yellow.
Sad.

You're a loser. Go to sleep boy.

Anyways back to the topic, I too can notice the yellowing on the screen, was actually the first thing I had noticed lol

You're still beating the yellow tinge cannot be judged on camera horse when its been successfully done hundreds of times on this forum alone?
Sad.

The yellow tinge does not refer to the entire screen. That can be adjusted via Apple's display calibration. It refers to a lack of color uniformity across the entire screen. And my week 53 iMac - just like my week 46 iMac and week 50 iMac - does not display uniform color.

Secondly, the above referenced image clearly shows a lack of color uniformity, as it would under nearly any light. The color of the light in the room does not have any effect on the uniformity of the color produced by the display.

I'm glad you have a machine that doesn't have these issues. It gives me a small glimmer of hope that Apple may get it right. They get one more chance, then I'm exchanging for a MBP and 24in. display. (And for what it's worth, the Apple 24in. display I use at work has perfect color uniformity).

It shows NOTHING of value. Even the gray bars themselves, the supposed reference, change substantially in tone across the width of each individual section of gray bar. Look at the light toned bars – they vary in tone from their left extremity to their right. Anyone judging these pictures and forming an opinion about uniformity of the screen is simply kidding himself. The pictures are WORTHLESS and there is not one that has appeared on this site that is even vaguely worthy of critical analysis.

Then perhaps you should stop analyzing the pictures and leave that to the experts.

Yes, my Picture is not a high quality photo. But anyone with a set of eyes that is not blind can plainly see the Yellow on the second bar compared to the top. Look at the screen, not the stand. If the picture was Yellow, the entire Screen would look Yellow. It does Not! Someone asked for a picture on here, so I was nice enough to give it them.

I'll do what I like in my own thread thank you very much. If you don't like it, don't post in it. There are plenty of others on the yellow-tinge farce.

Fair enough. I'm just glad you don't have the color consistency issues and that you're not paid to evaluate anyone else's display. :D

I hope you don't mind if I READ your posts. They provide me such searing insight. MR is blessed to have a knowledgeable chap like yourself here. I look forward to more sheer profundity, compliments of Sir Cecil.

Keep up the good work!!!!!! :)
