Great photograph, first place in my book.
One of my most favourite things - being in the nature and admire what we are missing out on, with a busy city lifestyle.
Congrats to the winners and thanks deep diver for the great comments. FYI,
1)the halo effect on my bike was caused by heavy mist that day.
2) The bike is a Giant SLR. Got a great deal on EBAY for it. I have a few bikes but its my favorite along with a BMC I have.
3) I too have been hit by a car and have a rod in my shoulder as part of the surgery to repair a broken collarbone. NJ drivers are bad.
I with you about riding on roads, I always rode on trails. I had to ride about a mile to get home from the end of the Iron Horse Trail. Problems with my legs and excess weight have curtailed my bicycle riding. I only ride my motorcycle on back roads and stay off the freeways. I try and limit my speed to my age, currently 76! I cheated today and exceeded that for a short time.I used to bicycle ride on roads, twice I was on purpose forcefully swerved at by cars, once I bailed onto the gravel shoulder, wiped out, no serious injury except scrapes on lower leg.
This was late 1990’s, I vowed never to road ride again.
All my riding is trails, my friends ride their bikes to trails, I’ll use car and hitch bike carrier to meet them.
I’ve seen people use the pool noodle to give their space.
Michigan, the state I live in, in 2018 passed the 3 foot zone law.

Can't beat family and friends! Stay well.I looked at the top tube and thought it said Defy.
I grew up in Philly and lived in NJ for 4 years. Yes, NJ drivers are really bad. Drivers in Cleveland are openly hostile to bicyclists and motorcyclists. No one even tries to hide that hostility. It's a bad place to ride. My physical injuries were nowhere close to how bad they could have been. I've got the PTSD under control but I still haven't been able to l ove it.That's okay. It gives me more time to spend with Mrs. Diver and friends this time of year.
Myself as well. Kicked off a craving, and they just are not available locally, plus this old body no longer tolerates wheat.@OldMacs4Me – I love these little fairs (as long as they’re not too crowded.) I love the colors in this scene. The pinks and blues are beautiful. My eye is drawn from the center of the scene with the flags moving me up to the sky. I would have preferred you did not comment on the donuts. The kiosk is deep in the shadows and I have to work to move my attention in that direction.
@mackmgg – I like this a lot. The colors and textures of the scene really come through. That is definitely a place I’d like to be. My youngest lives in Provo, Utah and this is the kind of view he has looking out his back door. That adds to how this image resonates with me. It was clearly an overcast day but the image seems a little too flat to me. I’d like to see you bring up the shadows a bit.

A , hopefully , better pic of my entry . It's a globe that I made in late 1979/early1980 . Hasn't aged as well as I'd have liked , but neither have I . Constructed of 84 (IIRC) segments glued into 2 half spheres ; each sphere being joined to the other via a pair of interlocking rabbets. Made spherical using a ball plane , pattern makers rasp , and files/sandpaper . sealed with one coat of clear shellac , then lines of latitude/longitude were laid out . Using an old National Geographic Atlas , I traced the continents and larger islands (too bad Fiji !) , along with the larger lakes . water areas were carved out with a veiner and small gouges to approximate the flow of ocean currents . A quick sanding , staining the water areas with Minwax Special Walnut stain , and then 2 or 3 coats of orange shellac ; the idea being to make it appear like something from the 17-1800's . There's a corresponding stand that was made from offcuts of the segments that has cracked beyond repair , so I've gotta figure out a new one . Hence the picture of the globe supported on 3/4 copper tubing stuck in my workshop vise.
So... What led me to build this thing? In early 1979 , Fine Woodworking magazine had an article about a guy who made one of these globes . Read the article , thought 'that's nice' and forgot about it . Right around Thanksgiving of that year , I brought the magazine into work . (I made my living as a Shop teacher for 40 years) Kid picks it up , looks through the pages and stops at the globe article and says to me "Hey , can you do this?" ... "Yeah , I suppose" ... "B**l S**t" . So the gauntlet was thrown down . Did a redesign of the globe in the article reducing it from IIRC 24" to around 18 , and had a sphere sitting on my desk when the classes returned after Christmas break .
Industrial Arts ... stuff like Woodworking , Auto Mechanics , Metal working/Machine Shop , Mechanical Drawing , Electricity/Electronics in High Schools (not Vocational Schools) . Most of the programs around me are gone now , when us old guys retired they just never replaced us and the space is now used for something else .Mind me asking - what does a shop teacher do?! sorry I’ve just never heard of that term.
I remember our woodwork teacher - he had a cricket bat and would get us to sign it before belting us with it
Cheers
Hugh
