In a coffee shop.
Some superb images this week - wonderful shots.

Terrific shots by the winners, but I feel I must mention that I really loved @MCH-1138's stunning hummingbird, and thought the way the bird's plumage matched the background outstandingly well observed.

While I am always partial to cityscapes and urban settings - and really enjoyed the terrific shots by @E3BK and @jkramerbob, I thought @Flunkyturtle's picture really quirky yet wonderful. Enjoyed @Apple fanboy's effervescent strawberry descending in water, too.

Excellent job on the theme for the competition, @Ish, and very nice constructive feedback.

Congrats to @MCH-1138 @RedOctober and to the deserving winner @Alexander.Of.Oz!! I feel like judging is getting harder and harder every week. I love that this group really tries to push each other's boundaries. Well done to all.

Great job on this @Ish. Thank you for the kind mention & feedback. I hadn't expected anything but glad you like the photo. I considered another photo that met the criteria (it has a fun story to go with it) a little better but I just love that bicyclist photo and have not had a chance to share it with anyone outside of my small circle of friends that are interested in Photography. lol. And a thumbs up from @Scepticalscribe is always a boost to the ego.

Looking forward to the next challenge!

Great job everyone. Some stunning images. Well done to all the winners.
Thanks for taking the time to critique all the shots @Ish. Good job (I didn't envy you)
Mine was a archive shot as I've been pretty busy of late. I had a few ideas, but they were blown out of the water by what others posted and lack of time.
@MCH-1138 that was a great shot. Feel like we haven't seen enough of you're humming birds lately. They always bring a smile to my face on a cold dark winters morning.

I've heard of people being two faced and here's a nice example! :)

You can always share them with us on the Photo of the Day thread, which I think you've done already. I'm not a prolific photographer so I only post from time to time, though I always have my camera with me. I tend to go on there and have marathon catching up sessions!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone!

@Ish it's about the same depth I think. The middle part of my photo is the early stages of ice forming called frazil ice. You did a great job on the judging. Congratulations to the winner and honorable mentions.

Thank you @Ish for the amazing efforts with your critiques and adjudication. When I saw @MCH-1138 's entry, I thought it was all over there and then!

That is the moon in my image, I had to scramble fast to get that shot and the cars arrived at just the right time to give that detail to the surrounds also. So it was really part luck, and part planning (on the run.)

The new contest is up and running now over here.

Where was your entry this week?

It was moving too fast for me to grab it.... ;-)

No seriously, work got in the way again. Nov/Dec is crazy season for us and I have had no time. Plus you guys were storming it this week so no room for little ole me...

Thanks for missing me though... :)

Thanks for that Elbert. Just looked it up, not heard of it before. You live in a cold part of the world!

And the more prepared we are the luckier we get! I'd put that down to 95% planning, chances were, given it's a road, that a car might come past in your time frame. Well done!

Congrats, Alex, on the well-deserved win! I recall seeing your photo (or a similar one?) in the Photo of the Day thread earlier and thinking at the time what a great image it was. I really like the subtlety of the exposure throughout the frame and the leading lines that just draw you in.

Thanks, @Ish for the third-place nod and for the thoughtful comments all around. Lots of really great images again this week, so you had your work cut out for you. I appreciate that you took the time to give everyone solid feedback.

And thank you, all, for the very kind comments on my photo! For those who may be interested, the background is an out-of-focus oleander shrub.

AFB, I am getting far fewer visits from the hummingbirds right now -- down to maybe one sighting a day -- so not nearly as many photo opportunities at the moment. But if it will help bring some warmth and cheer on a December morning, here is another from my archives (complete with some motion-blur of the wings to keep this somewhat on-topic)...
