Terrific contest and some smashing entries.

Amazing landscape by @JDDavis - that is a postcard standard. Superb photograph.

As I am a huge fan of photographs taken at the 'Blue Hour', I have to say that I really liked the picture submitted by @anotherscotsman - extraordinarily atmospheric.

And, as I am a big fan of medieval cathedrals, must say that I loved @Indydenny's shot.

@NeGRit0's entry was something that you might see on a scifi book cover - it would have made an excellent poster fora scifi movie, while I also really liked @jkramerbob's impressive interpretation of the brief.

As always, a superb - and arresting - shot by @Laird Knox - superlative mastery of light sources.

Okay so competition is closed.

@Hughmac Its interesting fabric, it’s blue, but not a lot else to say about it. The image doesn’t really do it for me (but I’m sure others will disagree). Sorry.

Don't be sorry, it's not just photographic skill that wins competitions, personal preferences also come into it.

I feel the winners were the right choice - mine was just a space filler.

Cheers :)

Hugh

Wow what a coincidence - I joined a Flickr group for Sony A7 users today and I was browsing through the images and this one came up.

Not as good as JDDavis' shot but obviously taken from the same vantage point at a similar time.

Many thanks for taking the time to give critiques on all the entries and congrats to the winners .
Just some comments on my entry : It's the Hearst Tower . In Manhattan on 8th Av. in the 50's .The part in the picture was a 2005 or thereabouts addition to a much smaller original building from , I guess , the 20's . My entry was taken in 2005 , before I went digital using either a Canon Eos 1 or my M6 . Lens probably a 35/2 or some sort of 28/2.8 . Taken on Fuji Velvia 50 , which pretty much explains the saturation , and scanned in a Nikon film scanner probably around the time it was taken as I was using it as part of a presentation for one of my classes . Minimal post , just conversion from TIFF to JPEG , and resizing .

Wow. Thanks AFB! There were many entries this week that could've easily been first place finishers. I don't envy the task that you had AFB. Secretly...this is actually one I kinda wanted to win. I wanted to finish off the trifecta with the next contest theme. Any guesses?

Great job judging AFB and a huge group of great images.

Thanks MacRy. There have been thousands of images of Oxbow Bend and Mt. Moran taken from that same vantage. Many are much better than the hundreds of images I've taken from there. The path and the "spots" down by the water are worn bare by photographers. In the fall you better get there way before the sun comes up if you want a prime spot. Still...images never really seem the same and it's always different each time. On this morning I was really hoping for some leftover clouds from a recent storm and a golden sunrise but all I got was a clear sky and a light blue sunrise. Luckily, it still turned out to be an interesting image.

Next one in a few...

Er, something in green?

But, by the way, that was stunning image. Seriously - and I don't say this lightly - that is worthy of being made into a postcard. Brilliant, just brilliant.

@Alexanderr.Of.Oz I like the scene, but the ghosting couple on the left detract from it a little for me. Perhaps a slightly shorter exposure (1.3 seconds) and a higher ISO would have eliminated it. Also are you shooting through glass or do you have water on your lens? Either way a lovely sunset with the blue wonderfully supplied by the lighting.
@Apple fanboy My image was taken with my old 60D and a Tokina 11-16mm lens. I was learning about night photography at that time and you are bang-on with your suggestions to ramp up the ISO, which I can on the 6D, now, without introducing noise. The dots are light flare which the Tokina lens is known for. Thanks for your constructive feedback. :)

@Apple fanboy thank you for your feedback. The image was actually taken at sunrise during the winter. So your wish came true... LOL despite popular belief not every sunrise looks typical . If I remember correctly it was at the very start of it.

@NeGRit0 Well this is certainly a very blue indoor scene. My guess is its some laser tag type of place? I do look at the scene and wonder whats going on though, as I can’t really make it out. This one would probably work better as part of a photo story. Also the clipping of the top right corner of the neon strip bothers me a bit. But certainly hitting the blue criteria of the contest.

Lol, would you believe its a sitting area in a very upscale mall on the Las Vegas Strip? I know, not my best work, but I guess it is a bit dark. I took it while goofing off with some local photographers. The guy on the right is shooting the guy sitting in the frame.

Congrats to the winners, some really great entries this week.
