I'm afraid no City scapes came to mind.

Plus tbh family matters have meant photography will be taking a back seat for a while.
But well done to those that did enter. Some lovely shots.
Glad I'm not judging.

I have to be honest, this has been one of my favorite contests yet. Everyone submitted really good stuff and with the exception of one entry everyone followed the theme of the contest perfectly.

When it comes to night time cityscapes, it isn't enough just to take a technically good image. Composition and interesting subject matter is key. One person truly did an outstanding job. When I saw this image I was like wow, I've seen this image taken thousands of times, I've even shot there many times myself, never seeing this outstanding composition. anotherscotsman wins first place. Your composition is interesting, and tense. Your subject is extremely well composed and keeps me looking at for photograph. Congratulations, you deserve it. The second place winner is a tie. I don't like ties, but in this case these images were equal and it felt unfair not to give them both second place. NeGRit0, Your image of last Vegas at night with the wonderful sky is just beautiful. I hope it's real and not a composite where you added the sky from a different image. pmxperience, I love the lighting strike cityscape. Your patience and technical skill on getting the shot is excellent. Good work. Third place goes to koilvr. You thought outside the box and it paid off while still following the theme. Nice mood.

I'm really impressed with the level of work almost everyone submitted. It really made it fun and challenging. Scotsman, it's now your turn to create a contest. And thank you for such a excellent submission.

What an excellent contest - well done for suggesting such a wonderfully challenging topic, @Miltz.

Well, I love cityscapes, and I love night shots, so this was a contest that I expected to enjoy.

I though @koilvr's shot extremely good, that sloppy street, along with the unusual angle, loved it; needless to say, @anotherscotsman's creepy shot was brilliant; it wouldn't have been out of place as a poster for a dystopian thriller.

Personally, I also really liked many of the water shots - terrific for reflections and atmosphere. The shot of an actual bolt of lightening on Victoria harbour by @pmxperience was really good, and I also liked @simonsi's shot of Auckland - an unusual cityscape.

Another which caught my eye - very unusual and arresting lighting- was the shot submitted by @highdefjunkie - where exactly was that taken? And, of the winners, @NeGRit0's shot showed the clarity of the light in the Nevada desert - the stars were incredible.

Anyway, a wonderfully accomplished set of images; congrats to all of you.

@Miltz Thanks for the great judging, I know you had a pretty tough job this week. Everyone had some pretty great submissions.

As for my shot, it was a pretty spectacular lightning storm over Hong Kong. Only, there was only one lightning strike during my 20sec exposure. I'm still not sure whether it was luck or not...

Thanks Miltz - I certainly didn't envy your task and certainly didn't expect to win given the quality of the other entries. I would love to claim that the composition was the product of great artistic consideration on my part - it was largely dictated by the absence of a tripod, a 20mm prime lens and a convenient lump of concrete to sit the camera on! Thanks again Miltz and to everyone who participates - I for one have learned a lot over the last year or so.

I'll have a think and post the next competition in a bit.

Thanks for the nod Miltz. Sorry to let you know though it is a composite. As bright as Las Vegas is, even with most of the lights turned off in honor of Earth Hour it's sill too bright in the city to capture stars. So I drive to just outside of the city and either soot stars at Red Rock National Conservatory, or a bit further out at Mt Charleston which is much darker especially when you head up the back side to Lee Canyon. Glad to hear that it looks so real though! :D

Congrats to the winner, and all else who submitted. So glad I wasnt judging this one!!

I appreciate you clearing it up. I was 85% sure it was a composite but I wanted to hear it from the artist...lol Nice work on blending it together.
