The topic of this week is "Silence". Use your imagination, your vision, your creativity to show silence.

Standard rules
  • Do not comment, vote, react or click “like” on images prior to the winners being announced.
  • The photographs must be your own work.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest but you can point the members at the internet for a contextual bio image to illustrate your mimicry.
  • This contest runs for one week. If in doubt, check the dates in the title.
  • At the end of the week, The Judge will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline, then last week's 2nd place has to step in. 3rd place takes over should 2nd place be similarly unable to officiate.
  • The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create a new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
  • Contest ends 22:00, Sept 22, 2021 CEST (@mollyc : GMT+2).

Modern technology transporting someone from near-silence to sound and the ability to hear and understand speech: BAHAs -- digital bone-anchored hearing aids / sound processing devices used by people living with near-silence and a very muted world devoid of much of the beauty of sound due to conductive hearing loss, single-sided deafness or other conditions:

[And, no, before anyone asks, these are not the same as cochlear implants, another miraculous way of bringing sound to those who also otherwise would live in silence and/or a world with very muted sound.]

Every fall I try to spend a couple of hours on this little lake which sits right on the continental divide between BC and Alberta. Even when the wind is whipping nearby lakes into whitecaps, the north end of this little gem is so quiet and sheltered that what few ripples you see were caused by me. Fuji Xp90 waterproof camera.

I didn't add a comment because it was muted. 🙂

Laying down on a secluded meadow among the trees and watching the clouds moving silently in the sky gives me peace
and all the thoughts in my head go silent.

Only reason I added a comment to mine is that the image portrayed, the objects, are not self-explanatory because they are not common in a lot of people's experience. I figured it would be a good idea to at least explain what the BAHAs are and what they do, why this image was included in this particular weekly contest. Ideally, an image is self-explanatory, of course.....
