Okay, I've given this some thought throughout the day and here's what I've come up with for you all as the next weekly challenge...

Show me what photography is for you. In a photograph. That is all. :D

Okay, to make this a bit easier, maybe give me a sentence accompanying your image, so I can get what you're trying to get across with your image too...

  • Submit a photograph of your own making.
  • Be as expressive as you can be!
  • The contest runs for a week, from now.
  • In a weeks time, I'll make some comments and choose some images that moved me the most.
  • The winner will rinse and repeat this process, getting 2 days to get the next one underway.

  • Please update the Weekly Contest Master List when you start the next round.

Wow! this one's going to take some thought! jeez-oh!!

What? You mind explaining? How are you going to judge it?
Well, rather than the usual take a photograph of this thing. I thought with the recent focus in several threads here on telling stories through photography, that we could explore that further.

I understand it may possibly take a bit of lateral thinking to create something, it's probably not something you will just be able to dip into your bag of photo's and whip out an entry for, but isn't it good to stretch our explorations every now and then?

Judging is the same every week, it's purely subjective and what moves the judge.

----------------

I've just expanded the description in the first post to include the inclusion of a sentence, not a paragraph or a thesis, to accompany your image if it needs assistance to understand it.

Here's a couple of examples from my library as illustrations that it could theoretically be anything.

Photography is for me... frustration.

Photography for me is... delight in the unseen.

Okay, since this is already an off the grid challenge, I am going to submit an off the grid entry. I have mentioned in various threads that I am also a scrapbooker, and this is a layout I did once about why I like photography (the photo contained is mine).

While I appreciate the entries so far, please keep the explanations to one sentence, and one sentence only, so as to not make me read other things into your images! Thanks folks. :)

Photography is for me capturing the essence of things we take for granted before they're only memories.

I know this can't be part of the contest, but this image was a portion of a multi-year photo essay I did a few years ago. It's not my best work since it's an early project of mine, but the message remains relevant.

For me photography is a constant learning process; if I do this will my picture look like that - but in all that time lost in the taking of a photo I find it totally relaxing :)

It doesn't matter what photo I upload, there isn't one capable of expressing the pleasure of executing a shot exactly as planned.

Cheers :)
