Time's up!

No further entries will be considered for this round.

I'll be back in a few hours with some thoughts, maybe even about the entries for this week, if you're lucky... ;)

Okay folks, time to put this bad-boy out of its misery.

Thanks to those that entered, bonus points to those that actually attempted it, and extra thanks to those that read the rules, sticking to them with only one sentence!

I'm gonna be a sod and make my interpretations based upon only the first sentence for those that can't read and had multiple sentences as part of their entries. :p

I have enjoyed getting to know a little about you all through your expressions this week.

Story told, and very effectively. I don't even own one of those any more! I am so glad to not be chained to a routine of having to dress to impress. Working as a self-employed consultant dealing with construction companies, real-estate agents, designers, architects and engineers, I had this sort of outfit as my staple dress code for way too many years back in the 90's and 00's.

Okay, since this is already an off the grid challenge, I am going to submit an off the grid entry.

The joy and sense of expression scrapbooking brings you comes through clearly, Molly!

Facing myself in some way.

This one is a fantastic inspection of how we see ourselves, reality vs our nuanced perceptions of Self. Really well done, Patrick!

For me, it's about capturing that moment worth sharing.
And yep, it's a great moment, worth capturing. Very amusing!

For me, it is about preserving what we cherish the most.

A great capture of the full immersion in the moment that he's experiencing. next time get him to do it barefoot!

Photography, for me, is about capturing Nature's beauty.

And what a moment of natural beauty you captured there, Chris!

Photography is for me capturing the essence of things we take for granted before they're only memories.

A fascinating documentary capture, Nathan.

Photography for me is..

Getting out from the house or the office and enjoying nature.
I love seeing your captures and hearing that you've been able to venture outside, when they come across my screen! Make a ritual of doing this with Missus AFB, if you haven't already!

Photography is for me ... capturing something that happens to catch my eye while out and about.

I'm glad that you are doing it for yourself, Lance! I hope this remains with you always.

For me photography is a constant learning process; if I do this will my picture look like that - but in all that time lost in the taking of a photo I find it totally relaxing :)
"Flow," a Positive Psychology term is what you're experiencing here, Hugh! It's that "being in the zone" thing, where the world at large and even time recede to the background, and before we know it, hours have gone by! It's a big focus of my Mindful Photography groups and is a very beneficial thing to experience in our lives as a regular experience! We as photographers are truly blessed with it actually being one of the easiest activities that lead to this experience!

Pity you didn't manage an image though. I reckon you could have, with bit of lateral thinking.

So, my thoughts and reflections lead me to the dreaded task of arranging these images in some sort of order of importance and effect upon me as the convenor of this round. As this was more about storytelling and whether that was conveyed in the images, here's my purely subjective results.

I'm the winner! The coveted 2nd place we all aim for!
Bad luck @needfx! You'll have to do the hard work next week!

As always a very interesting interpretation of a theme. Just to expand a little more on my entry.

I initially took up photography as at the time living with my autistic daughter meant she never wanted to go out anywhere. So I was stuck in an office Monday-Friday and stuck in the house all weekend.
My job isn't very creative, so I also longed to be able to do something a bit more interesting in my down time. As we sell items for photographers, I was interested to try this as a hobby. I bought a basic kit D3200 with 18-55mm lens and I went out. I was pretty much hooked straight away as I was finding a reason to leave the house.
Move on about 5 years and I don't get out as often as I did for different (compelling) family reasons. However I do enjoy those times when I do and they make my photography time much more precious.
It provides me with a much needed break from the other stuff I have going on. It also introduced me to a wonderful set of people on here with whom we can have a laugh and encourage one another.

Well done everyone. On to the next.

Yes, sorry I didn't actually enter the comp, but I still wanted to share my thoughts and reasoning in line with the theme.
Thank you for making me think about what photography means to me :), and hearty congratulations to the winners.

Cheers :)

Thanks for sharing this AFB. May the indoors allow you once again to head outdoors more often.

It doesn't matter what photo I upload, there isn't one capable of expressing the pleasure of executing a shot exactly as planned.

Cheers :)

Hugh

I don't think I ever got a shot exactly as planned. That's part of the mystery and appeal. There is always something else in there.

It's a good suggestion but he hates having his picture taken. I have to sneak them when I can.
