[doublepost=1522954819][/doublepost]First all I want to thank everyone who contributed. They were all fun to look at and provoked a lot smiles and cast a variety of moods.

To pick the winner is more difficult than I imagined, because of all the great submissions.

Great shot of the Schnauzer, and you captured the grumpy mood of this dog. As a pet owner, I’m yearning to see more of it’s eyes just to know if the dog is approachable. I do see a hint of catch light on the left side. a nice sharp print.

Kenoh

This photo makes me want to pick up the dog and give it a big hug! You captured the mood! What a sweet little dog. The white carpet makes it hard to see it’s paws. Crop a little closer?

deep diver

I LOVE cats!!! Love this expression, looks menacing or confused. I would bet the cat is sniffing and is confused by what she smells. It’’s a tuff shot to make, with all the background textures. I would like to see it color. Though I do like the gray on gray.

MacRy

An Excellent shot! A sharp photograph!! Your depth of field is perfect. I love this type of clowning around. Great expression! Makes me hurt to see it. Is this your sense of humor or hers?

Macuser453787

I don’t care that you posted it twice! A very nice pose and expression of contemplation. To bad he isn’t holding a human skull. I wonder what he’s thinking about?

Alexander.Of.Oz

Talk about capturing a mood with an expression!!! WOW! Intense gaze is right! A very good shot. That stare reminds me of my mother when I did something wrong.

Robotti

A great portrait! I don’t think we know how difficult making this shot is. It is very sharp, good lighting, well composed. I’m thinking the dog’s expression is: why are you dressing me like this!

It’s amazing the dog held still with a crown on its head and then allowing you to arrange the cape so perfectly.

Apple fanboy

A nice expression! Nice lighting for low light. Depth of field good too. Wish her eyes were sharper.

oblomow

As a person who hates the dentist, a very toothy expression! Is that a donkey? Nice close-up.

Maybe a little to close, but this is what makes this photograph. Nice job.

Allergy Doc

Who doesn’t like babies??? What an expression!! Or I should say expression(s) Nice play with your depth of field. By this picture, I find it hard to believe that she hasn’t warm up to Grandpa.

She is so cute!!

cogi0490

Is this your cat? By the expression, it looks pissed. I like the play between the two cats, and with the depth of field. Not sure of this cat; but a sharp pic.

Hughmac

A very lovely lady with a nice smile. Needs to be cropped or blurred, as to get rid of the cook in the background. Very nice catch light in the eyes. A wonderful candid shot.

E3BK

This is a wonderful shot FULL of expressions!!! I really like it! Why is it, that kids make us smile? I like in black and white than color. The contrast is perfect! I would love to hear the story behind this shot.

mollyc

This Photograph defines expression. We all can relate to it, we’ve been there. Though a simple as it is, it tugs at our hearts, and we know what it’s like. A sharp picture with good depth of field. I have a feeling the depth of field has been applied, but I like it. The way this way shot with the square format reminds me of the old 126 Instamatic slides of the 60’s.

CmdrLaForge

Good composition, and crop of the lion. I’m wondering if the cat wants me for lunch? Don’t think I would approach this feline.

Jkramerbob

Nice colorful shot. Conveys Happiness through expression. The lighting is wonderful too.

Cute kids.

I hope you won’t take my critiques personally I meant no harm. I also hope you all enjoyed this as much as I did. It was an honor to do this. Thank You!!

Congrats to the winners. Great feedback too.

You can credit the sharpness to the Zeiss Planar lens. It’s razor sharp.

It’s very much both of our sense of humour. We were made for each other

Molly's shot reminded me of this photo

Yes I wish her eyes were sharper too. It was late, I'd had a few beers and what can I say? I'm no people shooter.

Great judging. Harder than you expect isnt it?

As for mine, I will have you know, Olaf is a savage guard dog. He looks cute and cuddly but... Well yeah he is the worse guard dog ever but great to cuddle.

Well done @mollyc!

Very worthy winners. Thank you for judging and for the feedback.

My cat is neither confused nor sniffing. What you see is her intense focus. She is extremely protective of us. I got this at the moment she started to stalk whatever was behind me. I do have a color version of this image, but the B&W helps accent her stealthiness.

mollyc's image is terrific, but it says something about us............ When our kids have crises, do we comfort them? NO!!! We grab our cameras to show the world. Then we wonder why they need therapy. On the other hand, I am a therapist, so I appreciate your contributing to my job security.

Looking forward to the next one. Make it good.

Thanks for the kind words! great topic this week. As far as the photo, below is a description:

New Years Eve Day while volunteering with All Hands in the Philippines on Project Leyte: the kids always love to come and help us. It was really hot so we took a break and I pulled out my camera. The kids love posing for photos. The little one in front more so than the rest. haha

After Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines leaving much of the southern islands devastated and many homes destroyed, I knew I had to do more than donate money. I got a nice bonus on a project I worked on so I decided to take some time off and volunteer back in the homeland. Every day, we'd split out into teams and go to the home sites where help had been requested.

It was basically all manual labor for the first month, clearing debris and downed homes so that the owner could have a clear plot to try to rebuild. We salvaged as much of the wood and belongings that we could also. It was really heartbreaking but kids from the neighborhood always came out to watch us and wanted to help so we gave them the non-dangerous tasks like gathering twigs and branches that were small enough. Everyone always had a smile on their face despite many of them losing their homes and basically living in tenements.

I have more photos and info here from my time in Leyte if you'd like to take a look.

Thanks @Bigtree for the feedback and judging, nicely done!

That's one of my favourite images, for the intensity of eye contact the Baboon had with me for a couple of minutes. He was really curious about me for some reason, there were plenty of others there too, but he just maintained his steely gaze on me the whole time, sorta freaked me out a bit, and made me glad there was a massive sheet of bullet proof glass between him and I...

Congrat's @mollyc for the win, that's an intense moment. I hope it wasn't a regular occurrence for you, the moment of a child's meltdown is a hard one for us as busy adults to cope and deal with. There's normally a frustration or fear behind it, not that I'm a trained @deep diver or anything! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the next round!

@kenoh do you wind that thing up or is it battery operated? ;) We have a neurotic fox terrier cross we picked up from the animal rescue and she has an inbuilt hatred of little fluffy white dogs for some reason, we can't walk her at the beach off the lead, she will spot them hundreds of metres away and just leg it after them frothing at the mouth like a rabid dog! o_O:eek::oops:

It's a beautiful thing when two oddballs find each other amongst a sea of conformity! ;)

Done it for you, it's a wiki article on the main page for this subform, that is editable by anyone, I think. You just insert the weeks competition details (dates and theme) as an active link to the first page of it.
