I’d love to go back when it’s finished. Very busy though. Beautiful light inside.

That’s still far away though. I might need to next week or the week after again.

But I’m not sure what’s going to happen after the 29th.

Thank you for all the varied entries and your take on the theme of pairs.
My thoughts below are those of an amateur and should be taken with a pinch of salt as they are my personal opinions.

My entry was taken a couple of weeks ago in NJ of a Peregrine Falcon couple:

I love birds of prey and this pair are a great example. I hope you don't mind but in my curiosity I looked at the EXIF for this shot. I wonder how far away you were considering the size of lens you were using?

A lovely silhouetted pair; by the way, did you flip them?

Birds in flight are notoriously difficult to capture, but you've done pretty well with this pair of swans. You just can't always pick the perfect backgrounds though, can you?

What a lovely pair of dogs, are they mother and pup? Nicely done.

A pair of vintage camera from Camden market.

I remember my granddad had a camera like this, and we threw it away when he died. What a waste - I'm glad there are still plenty of examples like these still around. Did you buy one?

My first try at this type of photography, my kids ended up being my victims, per usual.

If that's a first attempt then it came out pretty well! In my innocence I haven't a clue how you did the lighting ;)

Nice, another interesting pair to illuminate this competition.

I’ll go abstract/artsy. This is a close crop of a section of a glass chamsah (a hand shaped amulet). I duplicated the original, made mirror images, and rotated them around the center point. Two of the frames are positive images and two are negative images.

So, yes. I did pare the original and then present it as a pair of pairs.

Without the explanation I wouldn't have worked out what you did here - well done!

Somebody had to do this so .......

Anjou will all make comments ......

Yes indeed someone had to do it. Points for a pair of pears, but nothing for the dad joke ;)

Lovely. I feel a request coming on for how you took and processed this shot please :)

Very inventive, making a pair out of two similar shots. Nice.

A pair of maikos in Kyoto:

Lovely colourful pair, nicely done.

I flew to Barcelona and climbed up the Sagrada Familia with 2 lb of pears and balanced them on top of the far left peak.

Got to be worth a bonus point!

How many pairs of pears were there in this shot? You must have counted them while you were placing them ;)

Being a poker player, when I think of a pair I immediately think of a pocket pair of cards. My second favourite of course being a pair of cowboys...

Ah, I wondered if poker was going to work it's way in somewhere. Nice shot, well done.

Sorry my comments weren't very detailed, but I couldn't think of any bad things to say - you've all done very well :)

So, the placings:-

Third:- @Donka for his lovely shot of a pair of Kings

Second:- @someoldguy
for his cheeky photo of a pair of pears

First:- @mollyc
for her beautiful shot of a pair of flowers

Thank you all for taking part.

Cheers :)

Really? Wow! How exciting. I did not expect that. You didn’t even know it’s my birthday week! Thank you. I will come back tomorrow with the sooc. I just used a single flash with a beauty dish.

Let me think of a new challenge. :)

@Hughmac Here is the SOOC for my flower image. The only editing I did was my base import preset into LR (slight changes to Highlights/Shadows/Blacks and Clarity), added a very heavy vignette to sculpt the light, then I went into PS to remove the reflections on the bottles, which I found distracting, and cropping. Settings were ISO 100, f/16, 1/80, taken with my 105 macro and I used an Alien Bee 400 with a diffused beauty dish.

Hi Molly, I’m curious why you went for f/16 in such a controlled situation? Was that a creative decision?

Hi Molly, I’m curious why you went for f/16 in such a controlled situation? Was that a creative decision?

Yes, because the vases were not side by side, the tall flower was behind the short flower. Shooting with a 105mm lens gives a much smaller plane of focus, and I wanted them to both be in focus. Even with f/16, the back side of the tall flower is slightly OOF.
